“Very solid tent ideal for 1 adult backpacking plus winter kit. Weighs around 2kg minus pegs and bags. Keeps out the driving rain and wind, I've tested. The vents are a nice touch to fine tune the warmth/humidity inside the tent. The materials are tough and look to last a long time. Not the lightest, but the lightest won't survive at 3000ft in a storm.
Takes a few pitches to get it perfect but all in all a simple tent to pitch. Look to youtube for a few tweaks and hacks if needed.
I have a couple of personal niggles that I would change to make it perfect for me, but for the price: an excellent one man winter backpacking tent.”
“Most under rated tent on the market. Robens Starlight 2 in my opinion is in the same class as the following: Nordisk Telemark 2.2 or Hilleburg Akto or Tarptent Scarp 1 it's not the lightest in the class or maybe the best. But all of the other are at least 4 to 8 times the price! And this is a well made/ design tent. If you have a limited budget and want to hike/ wild camp in the highlands, Dartmoor or Snowdonia all year round this one is worth considering.. it can stand-up to winds of 90+ miles and it's features I believe are more than enough for winter camping conditions. BUT note this isn't a 2 person tent its a very comfortable 1 person like the Scarp 1.
easy to set-up after a few goes, strong materials are used thus the weight. But you'll have peace of mind if you set camp high up and the wind starts up or bad weather catches you.”
