“I bought these boots to ride to the Arctic circle and back.
Having dropped my bike on my ankle while wearing my old leather boots (I thought I had broken my ankle!) I bought these as they give really good levels of protection.
I broke them in with a trip to Wales from the Isle of Wight and local riding. They have been really good, but I have reservations. They are comfortable and kept my feet warm which was wonderful, it was quite cold on many days of my trip with snow on either side of the road. The down side of the boots is that they are not waterproof, so filled with water when it rained hard. I also found they get very sweaty in use. However, I wore merino wool socks and my feet were warm and wet. To overcome this I had dry socks for when I arrived and used a wet pair when riding. Generally, I was pleased with the boots, but if I were to start again on a similar trip I would chose waterproof boots if i could find them with a similar level of protection. Lastly, they are a bit sqeeky, but that didn't bother me, but my riding companions commented on it.”
