“Great turnaround time from BacTrac, once they received my unit. Calibrated and back in the mail the same day they received it. However: I strongly recommend mailing with tracking and return receipt. I sent my unit First Class USPS from Georgia to California. It was supposed to take a few days, but wound up taking three weeks to arrive (This is totally on USPS and not BAC Track). At one point it came back to me with postage due because the metering stamp had come loose in the process. Luckily, I had receipts and tracking numbers, so another trip to the post office got the unit on its way again. All the delays were due to USPS and not to BacTrack.”
“I've been very pleased with the device. But after a couple years, the device only read 0.00. I knew I was supposed to send the unit back for calibration every year, but since I hadn't been using it, I didn't. Then after it started reading 0.00 for every test, I figured it was the calibration and sent it in. That's when I found out that these units do have a limited life (3-5 years). This was the first I'd heard that. There was nothing about it in the manual. I also learned that if you don't have it calibrated yearly, that could shorten the life expectancy. This was very disappointing to me. I read every manual of any device I purchase. And there was nothing about this in the manual. PLEASE BE WARNED: these devices will need to be replaced every 3-5 years, even WITH annual calibration.
Now, don't take this the wrong way. These devices are TOTALLY WORTH IT. I'm a professional in the alcohol business, so my career depends on staying clean of alcohol related offenses. Plus, it's just the right thing to do. Be responsible. Take care of your unit. Have it calibrated annually. And when it does die. Buy another one. I will definitely purchase another S80 Pro unit when the time comes.
All I ask is that Bactrack and other breathalyzer companies be more forthcoming with the life expectancy of their products.”

“I bought my BACtrack on the recommendation of a friend and was very excited when it arrived. Unfortunately after less than a month of use it stopped working. It was under warranty and was replaced and I hope this new one continues to work. Also, I wonder how accurate it is.....but I guess it is better than nothing.”
