Music Production with Mark Ronson Reviews

This course is good for someone looking to hear inside stories from Mark Ronson—and those are great, by the way. However, I was expecting more from the lessons. The MasterClass is disappointing and doesn’t go deep into music production topics such as EQ and compression. It might be worth it for someone who is just starting out and has never been exposed to music production before.

This is a moderately interesting look at how one producer works, but it isn't particularly useful for producing a fully live, traditionally instrumented band. There is a lot about sampling, use of drum machines etc but it doesn't really explain how to use these, there is a large amount of prior knowledge assumed. I would have expected more about how to use EQ, compression, reverb etc to achieve release-quality productions but this isn't really touched on. It spends a huge amount of time on the process of creating a song from scratch in the studio, which is interesting but not what I would really think of as "production". It doesn't talk about the process of turning an existing, fully-composed song into a quality recording, which is what I would be more interested in. The acid test is how much of this course I have put into practical use; in truth the only useful thing I have learned is how to add regions to projects in a DAW to improve navigation. And I'm only just over a year into producing music using a DAW. Not really what I was looking for in a course in music production, but it might suit others.

Mark seems like a genuine guy and was so excited to share his passion. I learned so much and believe it was wonderfully organized and presented.

Great course but unfortunately cut short a day too soon before I could finish it. My subscription was supposed to end on 16 December which I had assumed would mean midnight on 16 December but, in fact, it expired early in the morning. Could I please watch the last two episodes???
