DAVID is HILARIOUS! I laughed out loud so many times during his course. He truly is a GENUIS and a natural talent. He's terrific! Thank you, David for all the fun. It's always be a "thought" that many be some day I'll write and illustrate a children's book. This gave me a huge nugde.

What I found interesting were David Walliams' references to adult movies, and how those can be a valid source of inspiration for children's book writers. Why did I deduct one star? Apart from J.K. Rowling, Roald Dahl, or C.S. Lewis, the author could have provided more examples of famous children's book literature to support his teachings. For me, as an Austrian national, it is an eye-opener that there has been hardly any mention of famous non-British or US literature in all the courses I have watched so far. For this specific course, one would have, for example, expected at least one or two references to Astrid Lindgren (Swedish), Hans Christian Andersen (Danish), Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (French), Carlo Collodi (Italian), Korney Chukovsky (Russian), The Brothers Grimm or Michael Ende (German)? For me, as a Central European reader and writer, it feels like a slap in the face to downplay the massive global impact these writers have had on children's literature by not mentioning any of them. And yes, their works have been translated into English, turned into American movies and made accessible to the English-speaking world.

David is amusing and honest in divulging his thoughts on writing for children. I doubt I will ever write a book for children but I am interested in hearing about how he hones his skills and what tricks he uses to block out interference from external noise
