“The C3 pan is beautifully made, and a pleasure to cook with. High temperatures are essential to proper browning of meat and vegetables, and cast iron pans are the only way to safely do this. It is also the only cast iron pan in our kitchen that has a lid, which is very useful. We don't have any Teflon or other coated cookware, and the Crane is a welcome addition. The fact that it will last long enough to be passed on to my children (and probably theirs too) is a benefit to the planet.”
“Looks awesome = 2 stars.
Since understanding the risks of cooking with Teflon, for 15 years I have used many forms of cookware Made in France, USA and UK. Those brands include Lodge, Le Creuset and Netherton Foundary. All those mentioned are excellent but do not look and feel as snazzy as this Crane Cast Iron Frying Pan.
Unfortunately this pan is not good for cooking, as you end up having to either use a considerable amount of oil or you find your food stuck firmly to the pan. Perhaps this is ok if you use cheap oils that compromise your health but if you happen to use quality, cold-pressed olive and coconut oil, then it will get costly and your food will be oily.
I have not had these issues with any of the other brands. In fact, I'm perplexed as to why this Crane pan is not functioning well, it must be something to do with the glaze because my other cast iron ceramic coated pans are great and so are my raw cast iron pans, especially those I've seasoned myself. Even when cooking a frittata in the oven, lid on or off, temperature high or low, the same issues occur. Buying this pan on looks alone was a VERY expensive mistake and I should've sent it back. If you really want one, take mine!”
“I found the frying pan unusable as it was too heavy to handle, even when empty. So, I gave it away to my son. Your advertising material should publicise the weight, so that prospective buyers can be better informed about the usability of the pan.”
