“I've never tried a wine from the granite belt before and this one knocked it out of the park. Incredibly aromatic and refreshing. I normally prefer dry wines but the slight sweetness from the muscat just adds another layer of complexity. Stellar effort.”
“I had (rightly) somewhat high expectations for this obscure blend of Gewurtztarminer and Muscat but alas, it was bland, watery, had no discernable fragrance and left me high and dry on nothing but being out of pocket for a terrible Australian example of an otherwise lust worthy special. Would give it 0 stars if it were possible. Avoid like the plague. A case of bottle design, quirk (produced in Queensland?!?) and obscurity rationalizing the sale an otherwise substandard wine that resembled a watery cordial to the generously unsuspecting among us.”
“Le Petit Mort out of Granite Belt's Bent Road Winery is a stunning 2019 orange/amber that undoubtedly brightened up my weekend. I was pleased to delve a little deeper into the winemaking process on this one and draw the parallels between the centuries-old 'terracotta Qvevri' process used in Italy.
It's no secret that Australia's Granite Belt is one of vino's unsung heroes and the ugly cousin to bigwigs Barossa/Mclarenvale/Clare - but really, it's a mostly untapped spot for producing some of the world's finest wines. So it's great to see a select view doing the right thing when it comes to utilising its terroir wisely.
For a product labelled 'The Little Death' - this bad boy packs plenty of life!
Gorgeous. easy-drop that I'd highly recommend to anyone venturing into skin-contact amber territory.
5 stars. Bottoms up.
