I've held off writing this review until I'd used the boots for a bit. I've now done about 30 miles, mainly roads, also some country tracks and grass/mud public footpaths. 1) Service: Excellent. Wouldn't hesitate to use again. Ordered between xmas & new year. Arrived very quickly after new year. Nice bag provided for storage. Boots almost totally pristine, just one or two minor rub marks, no sign of previous wear. No odour. 2) Fitting: Incredible. I find shoes difficult to get right when I'm buying in a shop so was expecting to have to send these back for a different size once tried on. My shoe size varies from 7.5 to 8. I bought 8 and they fit perfectly with normal everyday socks or Bridgedale boot socks (Light or Medium Weight). 3) Comfort: After about 5hrs indoor wear it was clear there was no reason not to take them outside. On flat ground or down slopes these are incredibly comfortable. So much so that I notice how comfortable they are at almost every step. Great fit around instep and good soft flex around ankle with enough support to stop ankle turning over on rough ground. Where the vamp (the upper) creases as the toes bend up, it can press a little uncomfortably onto the top of one foot but if the boots are on tight and the foot fully back in the boot, this doesn't happen. I live in a very hilly area of Yorkshire so spend most of my walks either going very up or very down. I find the heel cup very hard against back of my heel when walking up steep inclines and even with thick socks, this rubs the skin off my heel. I'm expecting/hoping that I'll get used to this and my feet will toughen up. It is only on really steep inclines so if I lived elsewhere it wouldn't be an issue. Any tips would be appreciated. So far I've had no issues with feet sweating which is fantastic as that's an issue for me and partly why I chose desert boots this time. This may change in summer but clearly will be better than previous boots. 4) Style: I find myself looking at my boots while I'm walking. I love them. Except they look so cool that I cringe when the track gets muddy. There were no care instructions. Again, any suggestions would be appreciated. Just let them dry away from heat source and brush them off, I guess? Conclusion: I love my old leather boots, much repaired, super comfy, 20 yrs old but now they let too much water in too easily and when dry, make my feet sweat. Being broke, I came here for something more durable at a cheaper price than the high-street. I'm very pleased with this purchase. The company has given me confidence in the way they've fulfilled the order, as did the past customer comments. The product is excellent and the price is ridiculously good. These would be £250+ elsewhere and in the high street my budget would get nowhere near this quality. I can't wait to overcome the uphill rubbing issue because then they will be perfect.

I was surprised with the quality of these boots, looked brand new to me, just a little black smidge on one of the toes! I feel like I've got a bargain!

Good boots in good condition. Very little wear and well made and designed, as you'd expect form the German army (not so much the British, I hear!). There's no labels on the boots, so you don't know fora fact whether they're really gore tex or not, but they are very waterproof, and you don't get sweaty feet, so my guess is they are gore tex. Great work boots. I'm a market gardener and I don't find 'outdoor activities' brands very hard-wearing - I suppose they're designed for people that walk a few miles once a month...
