The jacket wasn't my first choice, which wasn't available in my size. Then I stumbled across this and I'm glad I did. Fit wise I'm 6ft, 42" chest and the 52L fits me well with room to spare inside for layering. The jacket is well constructed, with the outer shell mostly of a single layer of tough nylon polyamide (I'd say tougher than many military waterproof jackets), with an additional 2nd layer covering the shoulders and upper arms. The inside seams are all taped for waterproofing. Instead of a hood, the collar contains a retractable triangle with reflective strips which could be deployed along the back for enhanced visibility (along with additional hidden reflective strips on the arms and chest). The outside has 2 chest pockets, 2 fleece lined side pockets around rib height, all with zippers, as well as 2 velcro operated slots allowing access to under the jacket in place of hip pockets. The cuffs have 3 levels of closing: outer and inner elasticated cuffs, as well as velcro tabs. The bottom of the jacket can be tightened using a lace cord (not bungee which loses elasticity after a while), with an additional snap on tab on each side towards the back. The inside has two deep, curiously fleece lined, open pockets (which I call Napoleon pockets) with pen slots. The inside pockets are deep enough that one would have some difficulties retrieving a phone from them, but would be great for things like maps and long wallets, perhaps even a bottle of Scotch! The jacket is opened/closed using a heavy duty plastic YKK 2-way zipper, with a snap button storm flap for additional weatherproofing. The jacket comes with a removable zipped on, rather than buttoned on polyester lining with the cuffs secured by snap buttons. The zipper fastening means you lose access to the Napoleon pockets, but the lining itself has one zippered breast pocket on one side and a similar pocket on the inside at the same height, with a letter box type slot on one side around the height of the velcro slots on the outer shell. As the lining is reversible, this means with the lining attached you will always have one inside pocket, as well as access to your lower layers on the side of your choice. A lot of thoughts have obviously gone into the design of the jacket and I can see why this is a popular choice with motorcyclists. The whole experience has been wonderful: the customer service has been extremely helpful, patient and friendly throughout. Since not all the measurements are given in the product page, I provided my desired measurements (based on an L Helikon M65 and a 180/106 British windproof smock) and between customer service and the warehouse they came up gold (I was concerned a Regular length may be a bit short and I was right). I would definitely buy from here again for both its range of products as well as its service!
