“Haven't used many knife sharpeners or knife sharpening systems and haven't had much experience with this one or this type. Bought it because of a few knives I have with 14 degree cutting edges. This thing does OK. Maybe I just need to refine my technique or maybe I need to invest in better stones? I find this thing to be tedious (takes a long time to get to where you want to be) and it doesn't do so well with short knives (pairers). Also tends to scratch the blades of narrow cutting edge knives. Maybe I need more practice with it? Thus far, I haven't been able to achieve a factory edge. Close, but no cigar. Haven't used one but the Wicked Edge looks like it would be faster? Maybe better? However, the one handles narrow cutting bevels is wickedly overpriced! The best sharpeners I've ever used are the grinder wheel types. Those are A LOT faster but, unfortunately, very aggressive. They take more metal off the blade. Build-wise, this thing is well-engineered and solidly built.”
