“I've received many heatonist hot sauces and have enjoyed most of them in some way even if it wasn't my favorite. Unfortunately though his product feels like it was defective from the get go. When I got the bottle, the contents inside had hardened to a point where it was like sugar rock. I tried opening the cap and seeing if I could break it up but no luck. $12 down the drain. Heatonist has been rocking 5 star sauces for some time so I acknowledge this is a rare miss. I'd avoid this at all costs and stick with other brands of hot honey.”

Hey tgpumpkin! Thanks for writing in and flagging this to us! Honey is a super-saturated solution of two sugars: glucose and fructose. It's the glucose that crystallizes, so some types of honey are more resistant to crystallization because they have low glucose. It doesn't mean the sauce is bad, it is just a natural occurrence! “Despite having some Pepper X in it, it really isn't hot. There is a bit of a bite - a nibble really - that comes in at the end. Still, if you have a sweet tooth, this is the way to start out.”

“Sweet flavorful honey with a little heat that comes towards the end and is warming but not too hot at all. Highly suggest. Don't be wary of the price for the amount etc as it'll take a while to use all of this even if you use it everyday.”

“This is a good hot honey. The flavor is almost pure honey with the heat afterwards. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because despite all my efforts to shake the bottle, there was almost no heat on the first try. But after about a tablespoon was used and I re-shook it, the heat was definitely there.”

“The honey drowns out the spice in this sauce. I almost thought I had just bought a bottle of honey when I tasted it. It took eating quite a lot of it before any spice really began to register. The balance could be worked out better. They are two good combinations: sweet and spicy. If it was spicier, I’d rate it higher.”

“Honestly this is superb on almost any meat, not just wings. I used it on pork loin chops and my family went crazy(good crazy) over it.”
