“I have a 2020 Toyota tundra crew max 5.7 L 4 x 4 SR5 with 50,000 miles on it. I decided that I would change the front and rear diff and transfer case fluids, and everything went without issue until I got to the front diff where the fill plug came out very easily, however the drain plug would not budge and snapped off 2- 10 mm Alan sockets both from snap on. Unfortunately, we don't have any front diff tools here in the USA, and had to order abroad. Took about two weeks time for the front tool and 24 mm drain plug to arrive, and right away underneath the truck to remove the drain plug with the new front diff tool. I tapped it into Police with a 5 pound sledgehammer and use a half inch breaker bar with a 24 mm socket and was able to break it free with some effort.”

“The tool worked a treat. Important that you hammer it in so that it sits deep in the OEM plug and ensure that it stays deeply seated whilst attempting the OEM plug removal. It is made of strong steel. Do not wait until the stuck plug hex hole is rounded out. Get this tool then replace it with the KAON drain plug.”

“Although the removal tool failed to help me remove the drain plug (had to actually pound the next bigger size hex into it and apply penetrating oil and keep tapping to loosen it up) I kept the tool to make removal of the fill plug easier in the future. I hope it keeps it from being stripped.
I installed the replacement drain plug after servicing the front diff and I must say, everyone should replace that pesky OEM drain plug and make their lives easier.
Brilliant idea!! Thank you. The shipping from Oz to the US wasn't too bad either.”
