About Mike's Dive Store:

Mike’s London Dive Store may have been established for more than thirty years but its history goes back much further than that. It’s founder, big Mike Calder, was the super-salesman at a dive store in Fulham Palace Road in West London. A local lad who was larger in life than in so many ways, he was so successful at serving divers with the equipment that suited their needs best that people beat a path to his door from all over the country.

Mike was a diver and he believed that if his customers were satisfied they’d return. He took the long view. He was eventually so successful that other dive shop owners even protested he was distorting the market.

It was inevitable that he would set up in business for himself and with the help of a local friend started selling dive equipment from a warehouse at Richmond’s waterside. Eventually he moved the business to the more accessible premises it is in today.

Mike was a giant of the UK’s diving industry in many more ways than one and all who knew him were shocked when he was suddenly taken from us long before his time, in 2009.

Still in his early teens, Scuba Steve started diving in the Sinai in 1989, in the days when Red Sea liveaboard operations were truly pioneering. He accompanied skipper Jan Ellingsen on Colona IV on a 1200 nautical mile trip down to the Sudan and learned to dive on the way. A few exciting encounters with grey reef sharks and he was hooked.

He worked alongside Mike and purchased Mike’s Dive Store when it became available. Mike’s son chose to sell to Steve because he could see that Steve had the same passion as his dad for scuba diving and was confident that he would carry on the tradition of good service and advice from a position of a wealth of knowledge very much as his dad had done.

Mike’s Dive Store is not about shifting boxes of product but having the patience to understand the particular needs and wishes of every one of its individual customers. That’s you!

There are very many aspects to the underwater world and Steve has seen most of them. He instils in his staff this philosophy to only sell the right tools for the job and many of the currently regular customers will tell you that it was Mike sold them their first set of diving equipment. Mike may have passed away but Mike’s Dive Store is alive and well, and Scuba Steve is carrying on the traditions that Mike established for it.

First class service at Mike's the Tusa freedom worked great for me I didnt go deeper than 30 ft but I was able clear my ears quite easily, after a tiny bit of leakage I realized I wasnt wearing it properly , The skirt is very thin and its easy not to realize its not right , once i sorted it , no leaks, very very comfortable I got the black skirts and looks great I also had prescripton lenses fitted so vision was fantastic On the snorkel boat I grabbed the wrong mask(not prescription) and it was several minutes before I realized my mistake ,the funny thing is my underwater vidion was pretty good Made me wonder if I had need to pay 130 ish for mask and lenses for the few times i used so far I think out of the water vision would have been bad and since i take loads of pix i need all the help i could get Do i regret buying NO now i just need some more warm water to dive in Some how the free upgraded snorkel didn't make it to the red sea I thought a snorkel was just a simple tube , but you need to invest in a good quality adjustable snorkel its just easier to use

A great mask with a perfect fit. Key thing was that Mikes had a great range to enable to find the mask that was just right for me.

I've been struggling with seeing my gauges for a while and decided to bite the bullet and by the Freedom CEOs with additional bifocal lenses. I wasn't disappointed. Super comfortable mask and can easily see my gauges now!

Wanted a mask with prescription lenses. Emailed several stores with questions. All replied but Mike's answered my questions most comprehensively - so purchased from there. Arrived promptly - great all round service! Well done.

I bought this as Tusa are one of the few manufacturers that have a great range of standard lenses in Plus diopters. I've done 14 dives with this mask and I am so impressed. It seals well. It is very low volume. A great mask if you need something with more than just glass.

First off i was a little concerned that both my eyes are a -3.75 lens. The closest i could get was either -3.5 or a -4 lens. Given that the water naturally enlarges objects i went with -3.5 for both lenses. It was definitely the correct choice. What a huge difference it made to the whole diving experience. I found the mask to be light with a very flexible skirt. It gave a lovely seal all the way down to 18 meters (I didn't go deeper this time out). This was my first time scuba diving and i found myself grinning and laughing a lot underwater. Be warned you will get water ingress to the mask if you laugh at the fish being stalked by a shark. Its easy to clear while under water. Fantastic experience, fantastic mask and crystal clear vision from the prescription lens. Would highly recommend.
