Baby Chicks: Easter Egger Female Reviews

4.9 Rating 210 Reviews
We just recieved our chicks last week, and all 8 little EE's survived the trip and are growing stronger every day! 6 out of 8 have adorable little beards, and they're all different colors. I will come back and update when they start to feather out. See ya in 5 weeks!

Our Easter Egger rooster (now 7 months old) has been a delight. He's very friendly, gets along well with our Bantam Brahma rooster, and is just spectacular-looking. He's the reason that the best part of my morning is letting our flock out of the coop; he just seems beside himself with excitement, clucking and displaying. Couldn't ask for a more endearing bird.

I ordered two Easter Eggers earlier this year and they are super friendly and seem to be the leaders of the pack. I have one brown one and one light one. Their "beards" are the cutest. They just started laying and I was a little dissapointed that both of them are laying a brownish/pink egg. I know it mentions that a small percentage will lay non green/blue eggs but I guess I really didn't think both wouldn't. So if you are buying the Easter Eggers for their blue/green eggs like I did just beware they definitely might not lay those pretty eggs. I still love the Easter Eggers and they did start laying before my other chickens.

Little Clara is one of my friendliest chickens - she has a great sense of curiosity. Each family member picked a chicken breed for my very eclectic flock. Clara was my youngest grandson’s choice. He wanted colored eggs. Unfortunately, little Clara only gives light tan eggs. We will order other colored egg laying chickens this year. But Clara, regardless of egg color, is a valued member of the flock. I am pleased with this little girl.

Got my girls in May2018. They just started laying eggs. Very pretty green/blue eggs, and they seem to be friendly enough, curious, and not too flighty. But...they love to pick on my Polish girls I got with the order. One goes after them and plucks their feathers out and eats them, till they are bald and bleeding :( she is a real bully! I've put her in chicken jail twice, tried no peck sprays, bigger enclosure, thinning the flock, more food and water dishes, treats and boredom busters but no....she just hates my Polish girls. I'm gonna try peepers on her next and see if that works. She's paying rent with beautiful eggs but might end up being chicken stew soon if she doesn't start behaving herself. From this experience, I wouldn't buy a mixed flock with these ladies again.

We got our EE at a local farm supply store about 6 1/2 years ago and not at MPC, but I wanted to give some input from someone who has had this breed for a little while. She is an excellent bird; extremely friendly and loves being held. On summer days when we sit out in the yard she always jumps up on our laps and hunkers down for a massage. She if full of personality and truly loves the company of humans. She has even tried to jump on top of our weimaraner while he stands in the yard so that she can get higher up and closer to us. She laid green eggs for about 3 1/2-4 years, and was never broody. She was second in the pecking order, but recently has become top, as our Andalusian of the same age seems less interested in trying to keep up with the younger birds that we got this past spring. Our EE is not a mean top chicken either, it just seems like everyone else gives her respect. She is also a beautiful chicken and has a beard, and is just a classic chicken that everyone should have in their flock. Will definitely get more when I am ready.

I was new to the chicken world over 2 years ago. We studied many breed options before we bought. The Easter Egger was a no brainer from the price to the reviews and the potential blue eggs. Not disappointed! We love our girl and she is the best bird in the flock. Always wanted to be held. Smart as a whistle. Lays big beautiful sky blue eggs. We named ours Henrietta and she's been with us for 7 months. Will always keep one in our flock from now on.

When my order of chicks came in I was so excited to see what color my easter egger was going to be. She turned out being shades of brown and black, and she's the sweetest little thing! LOVES being held. Only downside, and why I gave 4 stars, is she has cross-beak and has trouble eating, but I know that isn't My Pet Chicken's fault. She gets around just fine :). Very happy with my purchase and love my flock of feathers!
