“We have a mixed flock of 5 different breeds. I have 1 Easter egger and the jury is still out at 6.5 months. She hasn‚Äôt started laying yet but she is gorgeous and striking. We originally named her fancy pants as a chick because she was a gorgeous chick - but as she grew she looks EXACTLY exactly like a hawk so we renamed her Hawk. She fits that name. She‚Äôs the second in the pecking order (behind the barred rock) and she is sure to get treats, food, attention first - but she won‚Äôt let us hold her or pet her at all (while the other breeds will let us do that). I‚Äôm dying to different colored eggs so I think I will order additional EE in the future but so far I would say that I‚Äôm not totally convinced yet.”
“The hens I received were so tame and would let me just scoop up and snuggle them. They lay the most beautiful blue or green eggs and my kids love them. We have silkies and I was afraid they would pick on them because my friend had some and they were picked on so much they had to put them down:( But they were not mean and were such pretty birds. I have been getting about four/five eggs a week each! I am going to buy some more next spring because they are so great!”
“I ordered 7 easter egger pullets on hatch date 4/24/16. They have since started to lay (mid October). Our cold weather has come in full force just in time as they are starting to lay, but.. they are continuing to lay every day, or every other day! Egg colors have been green and blues, matte and shiny, so I have 2 blue egg layers and 2 greens so far! I received one cross-beak with my order, but I was aware this could be a defect, and I was prepared. She is as happy and productive as the other chickens, she challenged a hawk a few months ago. Her beak is a little more severe than others I have seen but I feed my chickens soaked (or fermented) crumbled feed and she eats throughout the day, once a month I trim and file her beak. I love my birds and I would order Easter Eggers again! They're so unique and full of personality, good workers too, they help keep me motivated to do yard work!”
“We originally ordered a few different breeds for our first flock, for fun and to see what they all were like. We were bummed we couldn't order EE for the hatching week we needed. Then, we got a call the day they were being shipped to inform us that a breed we had ordered wasn't available and we actually could have EE as a replacement! I was thrilled! But, it turned out at that 2/3 of the ones we received are actually dudes. Beautiful dudes. Our hen, Nutmeg, is an absolute delight! She is super chatty and loves to be around us. She consistently lays 4 pale blue eggs a week, which are delicious. All three were really flighty chicks, who turned out to be really friendly as they matured. They have the most unique voice of all our birds, with many little nuances and "words". The verdict is still out on whether any of our other birds are dudes, and we hope not, as the EE boys are turning into really great Roosters.”
“Lovely hens but disappointed they are not always fluffy cheeked like the pictures they show. I would had ordered americaunas if I had known this. They really need to state clearly that they can come smooth faced also.”
“I have two easter Eggers from my pet chicken. The first one is a beautiful white color. She is always the first to greet me in the morning. She lays beautiful blue eggs! The second is a stunning red! Definitely the most beautiful chicken in our flock! Still waiting to see what egg color she is going to lay! Thank you MPC!”
“I received two Easter Eggers from MyPetChicken about two years ago going on three, One of the two EE's, Dazie, lays a beautiful pale green egg Eggcellent in size, and the other of the two, Commander, lays a soft blue egg. What I've found is that they both have different personalities,(obviously) but similar in their own way, both are antisocial, in a good way. They tend to keep to their own, both are very kind and polite, they tend to be on the bottom of the pecking order. But the need to shovel food in their mouths are where they are different. Daizie eats like a bird, but Commander is always eating or drinking fifty percent of her time, I definitely recommend this breed to any first-time chicken people, you can't be disappointed.”
“My Easter Egger layed pretty light blue/green eggs but she was an idiot. All the other chicken managed to lay their eggs in a nest box but not this one. She would lay them under the chicken house or in the garden. It was like every day was Easter and I hunted for blue eggs. She produced about three to four a week. That is what I found anyway.”
