Baby Chicks: Blue/Black/Splash Ameraucana Female Reviews

4.8 Rating 45 Reviews
I ordered a Blue Ameraucana in September along with a Welsummer, Green Queen, Jubilee Orpington and Cream Legbar. They all have turned into strong young pullets. The first to lay was my Green Queen, followed by the Orpington, and now Sage, my little Ameraucana. She is a petite hen, but her personality is huge! She is friendly and chatty and enjoys being held and sitting on your shoulder. She might be small, but she is one of the top hens. She is feisty, but she does not bully anyone. She laid her first egg yesterday- a beautiful light blue! I'm delighted with her and her sisters.

I just received my shipment of chicks including 3 gorgeous Ameraucanas. One blue, one black and one splash! They all arrived alive and healthy. My favorite breed are Ameraucanas and I raise them as pets and for show. I can already tell these are the best quality true Ameraucanas I've ever owned. The cheeks on these babies are epic!! Thank you for excellent customer service and for my beautiful chicks! My pet chicken, you are awesome!!

I ordered my blue ameraucana chick 3 1/2 years ago. Talk about a beautiful bird! She also had a sweet, calm temperament. Turned out she was also a bit of a broody, which was kind of a pain as you don’t get eggs while they’re broody. This spring I let her sit on some fertilized eggs and she proved to be a wonderful mother. I unfortunately lost her to a fox a couple months ago. I plan on ordering a couple ameraucanas this coming spring to try and replace her. I definitely recommend this breed.

4 very healthy ameraucanas. 1 looks to be splash, 2 blue and one pretty sure black. These were the largest out of a shipment of 8 which included cream legbars and appenzellers. The splash is the cutest light yellow and was the first to "perch" on a branch I placed in the run. They adjusted very well. Lively and no pastey butt.

I received a gorgeous Splash Ameracauna! She lays blue/blue-green eggs that are quite vivid. She's very pretty, has a good amount of grey mixed in with her white, and is inquisitive. She's a little flighty compared to our Australorp and other breeds, but not overly so.

We ordered 5 chicks and one was an Ameraucana. She was gorgeous and black with a green sheen. It was a wonderful mixed flock until she crowed. We were fortunate that we could re-home him to a good home. Too bad we won't get any eggs from him.

What’s not to love about Ameraucana? Those big puffy cheeks. The sweet endearing personalities. Or how about the most unusual bird vocabulary (they make the funniest noises). I have 7 BBS Ameraucana, 4 Blue, 1 Splash, & 2 Black. I bought all day old pullets but one stumped the Sexers and turned out to be a cockerel. I’m obsessed! They are my most prolific layers, laying beautiful light blue eggs 6/7 days a week. Expensive, but my gosh are they worth it! Thank you MPC for carrying sexed REAL Ameraucana!

Purchased her along with 20 other pullets of mixed breeds almost a year ago from MPC. She (Dottie) has never laid a single egg and is the lowest in the pecking order. She is so beautiful in color and stature it pains me not to get any eggs from her. Her sister, a golden cuckoo marans purchased at same time from MPC, lays the darkest egg of all of my flock. (Even darker than my neighbors black copper marans)
