“I recently received two beautiful blue bantam Silkie chicks from My Pet Chicken, and I am beyond impressed! Both babies arrived safe, warm, and in perfect health. They were alert and curious the moment I opened the box, and you can tell they were handled with care every step of the way.
These little Silkies are absolutely stunning — their soft blue fluff is even prettier in person! They are incredibly sweet and calm, making them the perfect addition to our family flock. My Pet Chicken made the entire process so easy, from ordering to delivery, and their attention to detail really shows.
I couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend My Pet Chicken to anyone looking for healthy, high-quality chicks raised with love. Thank you for sending us such precious little ones!”
“my chickens arrived happy and healthy! we were a bit worried, they shipped slowly. But they are here now and so happy and doing very well! everything turned out great! I LOVE MY SILKIES!!!!!”

“So. Um I want to say the last time (form Tractor Supply; not MPC) I got a silkie it turned out to be a male (rooster). But I must say; I love roos’! So sweet and cute! But not Hileya (My silkie’s name)! He was such a JERK to me AND the other hens! I still have one last roo (Thrisal). And he’s great! Still I tend not to like silkies any more! ):”

Ah, the blue silkies are a favorite amongst many flock keepers! I guess in part because they are absolutely adorable! We are so happy to have been a part of a great experience and appreciate your feedback! It means so very much to us! Please let us know how we may help you in the future with any of your flock care needs or questions.
“These arrived healthy, and looked really good for the first week. Unfortunately I started to have issues with them and slowly lost them about one each day (lost 4 out of 10). I've raised lots of chicks so this was shocking to me as most often you lose one or two possibly after a rough trip, but not a week later. Clearly it was something I was doing wrong. I went through quite a bit of trouble shooting with staff trying to figure out where I went wrong, and how to fix it. They seem better now but I'm still nervous I might lose more.
Some suggestions if you're considering getting Silkie Chicks; I wouldn't call these beginner friendly babies, they need a lot more care than my other breeds I've raised before. We ended up grinding the chick starter even smaller than crumble, offering tiny chopped scrambled egg and Vitamins in the water daily, changing the bedding to a paper pellet instead of fine shavings as they wouldn't stop eating it and I'm changing the bedding every single day because any kind of damp or poop at all seems to kill them incredibly fast. They are in a room with no drafts at 75 degrees, and a heat plate at the lowest setting on one end so they can clearly touch it, and a little higher in the front for the standard birds and still I have to keep checking them for pasty butt twice a day.
They're incredibly cute, and they arrived packed with care and healthy, but I don't think I would get these again, they're definitely more of a delicate ornamental breed than a hardy beginner bird. If this is your only breed and you have a lot of time to babysit them this might be okay for you, they just feel more like exotic fish than chicks. I dont keep saltwater fish because it's too much work, and these so far have a very similar feel which is not something I expected.
These are a pretty difficult breed to get ahold of, they're constantly sold out, so losing them was extra painful. I would personally recommend Cochins as an alternative after this experience, I got both a bantam and two standards and all three are thriving; you get the super cute very fluffy feet but easier to care for which for a very busy working Mom is a huge plus!”
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear you found the Silkies sweet and adorable, but we understand the extra care they require can be surprising for new owners. Your insight about their delicate nature and the adjustments you made will surely be helpful for others considering this breed. We're sorry to hear about the initial losses, but it's great to hear they are doing better now. Silkies are indeed known for their unique needs, and we're happy you gave them the special care they required. Cochins are a wonderful, hardy alternative, and we appreciate your recommendation! If you decide to try other breeds in the future, we'd be happy to help find the right fit for your flock.
Thank you for sharing this photo of your adorable baby! We are so happy for you both! Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns about any of your flock members or their care needs. My Pet Chicken is here for you!
