Baby Chicks: Blue Silkie Bantam Female Reviews

4.2 Rating 42 Reviews
My chick (Gabby) is sweet but very shy right now. Although, she’s only 2 1/2 weeks old she will push the others to the side if she can’t get to the food. She’s the smallest of the group

We ordered five blue silkie bantams along with our other seven black female silkie bantams, and we have lost three blue and four black. We have never lost any from dozens of chickens in multiple orders we have had in the past, so this is very disappointing.

We purchased 3 blue silkie females, and they arrived overnight. Absolutely love them! We ended up with one blue, one black, and one splash. Right out of the box, the splash was perky and alert, running around. Our black was a little weak but after about ten minutes she was eating and drinking. Our blue, however, was very weak, and I noticed right away that she was splay legged, and her toes were curled under her. We made her a brace out of a rubber band and a piece of straw, and booties out of tape. She's doing great now though! The blue, Eliza, and the Black, Angelica, our the sweetest little girls! However, our splash had grown a huge walnut comb, was way bigger than the other two, and started crowing! He was almost as big as our buff orpington! She's not fully grown. When the splash started mating our hens we knew he was actually a male. But no complaints because our other rooster died, Thank you MPC

I received my blue silkie overnight. Was very healthy. She (Dolly) is now 4 weeks old. I have been really impressed with this company. I have ordered chicks twice now and they have all been super healthy and received them over ight if I ever get more chickens I'll definitely order from here. I couldn't be happier.

My order included 3 Blue Silkie females and I was worried that I’d basically end up with a possibility of all Black since the ratio of 50% aren’t diluted enough to be the Blue/grey color. However, we received the perfect spectrum! We got 1 dark black girl, 1 solid ‘medium to light’ blue/grey girl, and 1 splash blue/grey girl!! I couldn’t be more thrilled. We had a pretty large order of #9 total of different colors and they all are gorgeous. One of the males ended up with a single comb as opposed to a walnut comb, but I wasn’t holding any of them to show quality anyways… Thanks, MPC!!!! :)

I ordered 5 day old Baby silkies that were a year old this past Mother's Day. My black silky has an overgrown beak. That has to be trimmed every month. My buff silky Is around 4 pounds. I did a lot of research before I ordered These Bantams the males Are only supposed to get up to 22 ounces. And females 18 ounces, I don't understand Why my buff female Has gotten up to four pounds. The only thing I can think of is maybe she is crossbred. I also got a white silky, She is the only one that does not have anything wrong with her. I would love to have maybe three more female silkies, but I am afraid to order anymore because of the problems that I had with these last ones.

My mother ordered me some chicks this past spring. I was beyond excited to have the Silky I have been waiting for...for a year! Everything was great when she arrived, cute little fluff I named Fifi. Then, a month later I started seeing issues. She has an overgrown beak. Fifi did have this when she was little, but it wasn’t a huge issue. She was not the fluffy Silkie I expected her to turn out like, and then one month later....suddenly died for no reason. We spent a good amount of money to have her be a girl, and then this happened. I was devastated. (She also turned out Blue, not speckled🥺) We ended up getting Tractor supply chicks also, to replace her. (we did not contact MPC because we understand sometimes things just happen, and to move on and hope for better luck next time.) We lucked out with TS, and that NEVER happens! Usually TS gets all the rejects from other hatcheries, so I was shocked! (Also in that same order, we got a cream legbar instead of a Speckled Sussex. They looked so similar as chicks, so we never caught on until months 2 months later. We didn’t mind to much getting them switched out, our Legbar is super sweet!). This is the first time I have had issues and was sad. But things happen, I understand. Hopeful for better shipments this spring!
