“My little pullet looks nothing like these photos. The reason I purchased her was for the tuff on her head and she has nothing. Still a pretty bird, but looks nothing like what I paid for.”
“I bought a few of these blue-bar pullets to make enough chicks to ship in my order. I was pleasantly surprised at how fun this breed is. They are friendly and stunning to look at. Everyone has to ask what they are;)”
“This chicken is my only blue egger, and she does not disappoint. Every day, I go to the nesting box to find a little light blue egg sitting in the shavings. Jazzy, while she is a little skittish at times, loves to be held and goes crazy over parsley... she's just a great chicken.”
“Our Bluebar is our most friendly chicken of our flock. She loves perching on our shoulders. She took a nap in my hoodie before laying her first egg at 22 weeks old. She is sneaky, she'll wait to get a treat and comes from behind when our other chickens aren't looking. Very curious. She's at the bottom of our pecking order but super friendly, sweet and quiet. Very worth it.”
“I recently added a blue cuckoo bluebar to my little flock - and she is my newest favorite. She is active and curious and perhaps even "clever" on a chicken scale. She's a consistent layer of small blue/green tinted eggs. At first she laid in the nesting boxes, but after a week started selecting other spots, the far side of the coop, behind the coop. It's like Easter everyday seeing if I can find her little blue egg.”
“I love my girl! She just turned 6 months old and has been laying for about 3 weeks. She‚Äôs always been super curious and sweet natured. Near the top of the pecking order but not aggressive. Just confident. She‚Äôs not as big as my Australorp but she doesn‚Äôt seem to notice. They have equal confidence levels haha. She‚Äôs fairly quiet and always up to her own thing. Strays from the flock more than they others. Frequently find her on the roof but just chilling up there. Love her! Lays a blue tinted egg 4x a week!”
“My two hens are almost mature now and each has a different comb style. Belle has what I expected with a comb and bouffant like a Cream Legbar, but Bella is different. Her comb is fuller and no bouffant. As this is a new breed , I guess variations may occur.”
“We received several healthy chicks from MPC about 18 months ago (February 2020). The ordering and shipping process was smooth and the customer service was outstanding (I contacted them with several questions)! Our Cuckoo Bluebar is beautiful (wayyyy prettier than the pictures on the MPC website!). However, she is definitely our most schizophrenic chicken; one day she is running between our feet begging for treats and the next day she is terrified of us. She began laying at 19 weeks and initially gave us 5-6 medium/large, VERY light/pale blue eggs/week (ranging between 50-62 grams). However, after a few months of laying she went broody and, even though we were able to break her broodiness in just one day, she stopped laying for six weeks. Unfortunately, she has not laid consistently since that time. She didn‚Äôt lay a single egg for the entire winter (we live in MI and do not add lights or heat) and now averages 1 egg every 4-14 days (very irregular) and about every third or fourth egg is a fairy egg or has a brittle shell (none of our other hens have this problem). If you want some color in your basket, consider getting an EE instead. Our EE (also from MPC) has a wonderful disposition and is a fantastic layer of large/XL richly colored blue-green eggs.”
