“This is the 1st. time I've had chickens. I adore my Swedish Flower Hen (Posey)! She was 1st to jump in my lap to be handled. She will lay down on command and has learned to jump for a mealworm on command too! The best thing is her BEAUTIFUL coloring; a golden chestnut with black tail fwathers and white tips! Posey is truly a little bouquet!”
“I received my chicks around the end of May and they have grown into very healthy and pretty chickens. Mae, the Swedish Flower is the first to try anything new. The other day I put a new plastic tray in the run filled with corn and melon. The flock screamed in terror and ran off, but I knew Mae would be the first to come and check out the new tray. She did, and soon the flock was enjoying the treats after following her example. She and my Cochin bantam rooster, d'Artagnan are the bravest. I always laugh at the funny things they do.”
“I only have one, but Princess Buttercup is the most beautiful and friendly of my nine girls. I just can't tell you how much I love her! She runs up to me when I come to visit and will sit on my lap and hang out with me. She's quite large compared to some of the others, with showy spots and an adorable pom-pom on her head. She's in the middle of the pack in the pecking order. She's only 12 weeks right now but I'm looking forward to her eggs. I want more!! :)”

“I have 3 swedish flower hens, a rooster and a hen from last year and a baby chick I ordered this year because I love my flowers from last year so much. They are such a gentle breed, even the rooster! They are very observant and the rooster watches over the hens very well. The birds are good foragers and, despite being light-bodied they stay out of my garden. I have found them to be exceptionally hardy and the hen is a good layer. I am very pleased with them and plan to keep adding to my flock over time.”
