“I ordered one SLW chick with a mixed order back in September, which makes ‚ÄúCasey‚Äù now about 5 weeks old. Casey already has a very red comb and wattles appearing, so I‚Äôm a little worried she might actually be a he. This chick is not friendly at all and is very skittish even though he/she is handled frequently. Also, I‚Äôm hoping if this chick is actually a hen, the feather pattern changes a bit because so far, it looks nothing like the SL Wyandotte‚Äôs I‚Äôve seen in photos. This chick is kind of mottled and irregular in color and pattern. I also hope she becomes a bit more social. Time will tell and if she actually turns out to be a he, as I suspect two other chicks in my order are, then half of my order was sexed wrong. I can‚Äôt keep roosters in my neighborhood and rehoming is not something I want to deal with. I‚Äôll contact customer service for a refund in a few weeks when I‚Äôm able to fully determine if this chick is male or female. I‚Äôll update accordingly.”
“I bought 2 silver laced Wyandotte hens March 2018. They lay nice sized eggs very regularly and are beautiful and calm. They are one of my favorites in my mixed flock.”
“We ordered one gold laced and one silver laced Wyandotte to mix into our batch, and I couldn‚Äôt be happier. They all arrived safely and her little stripy body is very cute, and age caught on quickly to eating and drinking. I‚Äôm excited for her to feather out, she‚Äôll be beautiful!”
“I received Emma Louise and Sofi on the November 26 2019 shipment. They arrived healthy and warm on a cold day., They are amazing Already are laying 3 eggs every day. Their 3 nest wooden coop from My Pet Chicken is inside a good size tall run.I painted it drk green to protect and get more time out of it as this coop is perfect and a decent size. They sleep on a perch outside the coop every night (Their Choice). At apx 8 every morn they jump off their 4ft high perch and eat breakfast together. Then like little soldiers march into the coop and lay an egg each in the nesting box's.Its Amazing the schedule They keep. The Girls are very brave they squabbled a bit as teenagers but now seem to enjoy each others company. Does not seem to have a dominate girl. My Son has several chickens none of them behave like mine. The 3 are so smart and happy Perhaps its the breed ? I never owned chickens, never knew they could be so endearing.( I dont handle the birds yet they are friendly)”
“Little annoying I ended up with a rooster. Ofcourse mistakes are made but this wasn‚Äôt a mistake. Iv never had chicks before and from the day I opened my delivery it was clear that this chick was a boy. He just didn‚Äôt have the same wing feathers the other girl chicks had. Also his behaviors was strikingly different. As a chick he would not sleep lay down, almost liek he was trying to be the protector. Also his obsession with jumping on top of who ever was comfortable and trying to sleep.
Either way, I love this breeed. Mallory became Malcom and he‚Äôs the sweetest boy, very slow grower he feathered out at half the speed of the others and for the first 2 weeks didn‚Äôt even change size. Was worried he would die. Now he‚Äôs strong and has the most beautiful voice. It‚Äôs almost like an owl.”
“Eight years ago I purchased a Silver Laced Wyandotte and she is still with us. The other 3 we purchased are long gone but she is tough. Out of no where this spring she layed 2 dozen eggs! She is a pet and makes us laugh, follows us everywhere and she is not happy if she can't join us for dinner. Esther is amazing!!!”
“The birds are beautiful! But not friendly. My female stays by herself and forages alone. My male tried to attack every member of the family. I finally had to make the difficult decision to cull him. We have many chickens. I would recommend Cochins and Brahmas for a friendly bird.”
“RJ is a beautiful silver laced Wyandotte that we purchased from MPC last November. She does not like to be held and can be skittish. She is beautiful with striking silver and black feathers and a contrasting bright red comb and wattle. She is on the larger side for this breed and ladies large light brown eggs at least 4 to 5 times per week. This breed is lovely and I‚Äôll be expanding to add more colors.”
