“This is by far my favorite chick from my current 13 (and she is for my mom not even me!) she is SO FRIENDLY, like cant wait for me to open the brooder every morning to jump up on me at 2 weeks. She loves to be pet and cuddled, and is a very confident chick (a bit too confident as she isn't scared of much). She is quite splashed, even more so than my splash amerucana chick so I got them a bit confused early on. I plan on adding this chick to my next chick order for myself! We named this sweet girl Misty.”
“Thee best chicken I’ve ever had. This chicken didn’t start out friendly as a chick but as she matured she wanted to be everywhere I was. She would stop whatever she was doing to always greet me. Even if she was up on her roost getting ready to sleep. She laid a pretty blue egg faithfully. Unfortunately she only made it her 1st birthday. She passed from what o believe was a reproductive disorder. I will never not have one of these in my flock.”
Thank you for the thoughtful review! They are just the sweetest and productive birds! I know that losing her must have been quite heartbreaking. The Bountiful Blue Egg Layers are very popular for all the reasons you mentioned and we hope you will be able to add a new one to your flock soon.
“She has turned out to be a beautiful hen. However, I ordered two Bountiful Blue hens and one lays a white, not tinted egg. It’s 1.8 oz, so it’s a large egg. Just wanted to let people know you have a decent chance of getting a white layer at a very expensive price. The company honored their policy and gave me a store credit.”
We appreciate you sharing your experience with our Bountiful Blue Egg Layer. While this breed is a very prolific layer of blue eggs, she does indeed come with a slight chance of laying a white egg. Our Blue or Green Egg Promise has you covered in the event you receive a white layer, as you've noted. If you want to totally avoid the chance of a white layer, breeds like Ameraucanas and Legbars are great alternative choices!
“My 'bountiful blue' hen is actually the least friendly in my flock but made up for it with beautiful blue eggs!! (first 2 out of 3 eggs this week!) Shipped as a chick in May 2025 and laid Jan 2026 - thats roughly 38 weeks, but with the climate here and the timing in which I ordered, that was to be expected.”
Thank you for sharing this update on your Bountiful Blue. We love hearing about those first blue eggs, they are always such an exciting milestone. Egg color and production can definitely make up for a hen who prefers a little independence. You are exactly right about the timing as well. With a May hatch and seasonal and climate influences, a chicken may wait to lay those first eggs til even Spring, when the daylight is more abundant! It sounds like she is right on track and settling nicely into her role in the flock. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and wish you many more beautiful blue eggs ahead!
“Those puffy cheeks are absolutely adorable! Pearl (7 months old) is mostly white with only one small gray splotch on her tail. She is truly a gem. She has been laying beautiful, light-blue eggs EVERY SINGLE DAY. Temperament-wise, she has always been and is still very very shy. I love, love, love this chicken! Totally worth the extra cost (I have the prettiest egg basket!).”
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful review. Those fluffy cheeks really do steal the show, and Pearl sounds like an absolute standout. Daily light blue eggs are impressive, and it is always such a joy when a hen brings both beauty and consistency to the flock. Shy personalities can be incredibly endearing, and they often make the most peaceful flock members. We love hearing that she has earned a special place in your heart and that she is filling your egg basket so beautifully. It means a lot to know you feel she was worth it and we appreciate you sharing so very much!
“I love my little Tweetie, she is small but mighty in personality. She let's me pick her up and cuddle. One of the first of my March chicks to lay. They are almost white, not blue but I am not upset because I need a light colored egg to complete my rainbow. She did go broody this fall, then a hard molt. She is just now getting her feathers in. Thank goodness our weather has been unusually warm. She took a break in laying during her broody and molting. I'm looking forward to her eggs again.”
Thank you so much for the review of the Bountiful Blue Egg Layer! They are quite the personality for certain! Molting is a process and that warmer weather is most likely very appreciated by your flock!
“This girl is amazing! She’s laying daily even in winter! So funny, seemed mean at first so we named her Chicken Pad Thai as a cute threat but realized she’s just super curious and nosy with the other chicks and ducklings. Beautiful blue green eggs that fade to a gorgeous cool mint color in winter. Definitely get this chicken!”
Thank you so much for sharing this. It sounds like Chicken Pad Thai has become quite the character in your flock and we got a good smile out of her name. We love hearing when a bird proves everyone wrong and turns into the curious social butterfly of the group! Daily winter laying and those blue green eggs are a wonderful bonus! We are glad she is bringing so much personality and color to your coop and we appreciate you taking the time to recommend her!
