These poles are great value for money, easy to adjust, comfortable to grip (having several hand positions to suit) with or without hand strap to firm grip and secure poles to hand; depending on surface. Having purchased a carbon fibre pair for 3 times cost, when one broke like a matchstick on a mountain hike when slipping and putting horizontal pressure on poled. They were very light but only downwardly strong. The Oztrail poles to me are far better, even though heavier to pack, make me know I can be confident in supporting in all situations. I'd recommend these to anyone wanting more stability and greater step reach not concerned about pack weight. I use mine frequently (purchased 3 years ago), especially when at 76yrs old I need assurance my poles will help prevent falling and give me that extra 30cm+ stride. Great on grass, sand and hard surfaces/trails. My regular walk on foreshore has a lengthy timber platform and the sticks do make a slight noise with each placement, especially if not using plastic tips and just the metal ones for more rugged surfaces. I believe their are ends that can be used in sand which stop the poles penetrating too deeply into the sand (snow?). Extremely happy with these hiking poles.
