The WH-1 is a covient way to hold a wheel. It allows me to work on the hub, rim, spokes and tires without fumbling around with the wheel.

Used it for the first time tonight. It’s one of those things you didn’t know you needed until you got it. I’m using it in the vice but I think it would be better bolted to the bench to better access the vertical position. Excellent product as expected.

We are getting less use out of this tool then we thought, but we expect this to change. First off, if you do a lot of work on slip-axle (axle-less) wheels, this is a must-have tool! However, most of our work is still on less-expensive bolt-on and quick-release wheels, and we are still using our AV-1 and AV-5 "axle vise" tools more. The instructions with this tool indicate that you should use the horse-shoe protection washer with quick-release wheels. We have found this is not necessary for light work, like cleaning or threading new spokes, but we would not remove or replace a tire, for example, without using the horseshoe, and are still conservative about the loads we place on QR skewers as opposed to bolt-on axles. One of the biggest advantages is that you can bolt it directly to the bench, freeing up the vice for other tasks. Our main recommendation to Park is that they list the ancillary parts in the catalog separately, as the horse-shoe and false axles are bound to get lost in a busy shop.

As with a bike stand, the wheel holder is not strictly essential but it is certainly very useful. I have used it to replace the tubeless tires on a fat bike without any struggle or mess and to convert the wheels of a gravel bike over to a tubeless setup. The 45 degree angle is perfect for starting or completing tire replacement and the vertical angle is perfect for removing old sealant, taping rims, and so on. The wheel holder is very sturdy.
