“These are about the only GMRS Handhelds that are available that do not have USB-C charging ability as a standard feature. This is several years behind all of the other manufacturers. Secondly, it is damned near impossible to find the correct programming software (I still don't know which it is) and then, having to pay something like $20 for the software. Just make it compatible with CHIRP and not have to worry about coding your own software. I also expected that a radio from "Rugged Radios" would be waterproof like other flagship products from other companies.”

None of our radios come with Software. Of course, you cannot add channels outside of the GMRS spectrum to compliant GMRS radios. And you can manually add tone codes or repeater channels without the need for software. In our attempts to maintain affordable radios, we do have to consider omitting some features such as waterproofing our radios. Some other competitors offer JIS4 Waterproof (Splash Proof/Not Submersible) for over 20-30% more in price but rest assured, we are actively working on a waterproof option for our GMRS handheld radio lineup! “Purchased two Orange Ones to add to the two grey ones we already had. As I seem to recall, we had to install the belt clips, packed separately in the box, on the grey ones. One orange one came with the clip already installed and in the other box the clip for the radio was missing. These units come in boxes without seals. The packaging for that one appeared to have been disturbed like the unit was unpacked and repacked and/or the belt clip was removed. The orange radios both appeared to be unused, still had the lens stickers on and had batteries only partially charged, the same as the grey units came. All four radios seem to operate fine and this may a just have been a packaging quality control problem at the factory or a later content inspection for some reason. Your technician sent a belt clip to replace the missing one immediately upon being notified of the problem.”

“If you’re looking for super easy to use radios look no further! These units are awesome , very convenient and have an amazing price tag for them! You can use them for trips around California or anywhere else! Going from busy streets to off-roading in the forest or the desert the GMR2 works for every setting you can think of. Would recommend for any type of driver beginner or advanced.”

“After a few years of using offbrand radios and going through three or four year, we decided to try the rugged radios. They work excellent, speaker is excellent reception is excellent and the battery standard lasted all day.”
