“Bought this kit at the OC off-road Expo. After installing the the radio and hardware, radio did not function properly. Contacted tech support and after determining radio is faulty, they shipped out another radio same day. I received it the following day. Installed that radio and all good. Took it out on a run the same week, I was acting trail-boss, and radio worked great. Everyone could hear me good and I could hear them very clear even though the radio is mounted on the passenger side hump. Antenna is in an odd place but seems to work well and is out of the way. Only draw back is need to use a bit of common sense when installing as there is really no install manual to speak of. Also, take the time to download and read the operation manual. Very helpful. I would recommend this radio.”

“BE CAREFUL when purchasing this kit. If you are looking for a kit that fits your jeep as a plug and play this is not the kit for you. The kit does not come with any specific jeep components other than a modified L bracket to sit on the outside of the A-pillar cowling. The UHV antenna cable is about a good 2 feet to long and according to Rugged Radio you should not coil the antenna cable, or it can interfere with signal quality. This leaves you with the option of cutting the cable to length and attaching a new connector or getting creative with the cable routing (advice provided by Rugged radio). There is also no mounting bracket for the radio itself. The handheld seems to function fine but as I am waiting on a connector, I have not been able to test the radio component itself. The individual components are fine however and depending on your project may be a good fit. However, as a package this is seriously lacking when advertised for Jeep vehicles and not coming with any real Jeep mounting or connections.”
