How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Wonderfully. They stood in the shoes of all the participants in the History of NZ and learnt to appreciate things are not aways simple and black and white - there are many shades of grey.

Having a kit that was hand-on made a big difference in learning about our history. Students were able to investigate, learn new knowledge and and make links to what they already knew. It was also interesting and engaging for the students and allowed a lot of collaboration and discussion.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Look at more than one view about events that have happened.
The children enjoyed listening to what happened and finding out about the history and different points of view around it. The discussions they had after were interesting to listen to. Understanding that people view things differently was a great lesson for them to learn. The resources were set at the right level for them.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? They were able to put themselves into different 'shoes' with the objects and information cards.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It is important to teach NZ history and we found the resource very informative. It was cool to have lots of resources about one part of our history.
Some of the links with the online resources didn't go anywhere/ There were no further explanations for it. Some of the instructions were unclear and so we had to adapt/change things. We are an ILE with 150 students so although we each ordered a kit, the kit was designed more for a single cell classroom.

This kit looked great. Unfortunately I had to go on leave unexpectedly for several weeks so I did not get a chance to use the kit with my class.

An awesome kit!! Great opportunity for the tamariki to explore New Zealand History. It also gave them I much better understanding of the importance of not just listening to one story . How everyone sees thing for a different point of view, depending on where they are. This is a good learning tool for school as well.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? There were lots of ";A HA!"; moments as they made connections between people and their stories. They were able to find personal connections and also see all sides to the story. Most could find empathy for most of the 'characters'.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? I have seen how you can design learning to be engaging and hands on and also how this can inspire personal inquiry. I was surprised at how excited they were to learn more and the questions they came up with to explore further. The new learning linked to f
We have only just had the opportunity to do the Tuia 250 kit in our MLE but luckily it coincided with the flotilla arriving in Wellington AND a trip to Te Papa Tongarewa. We had a full day with our whole class introducing the characters, working out the story and playing guess who. The following day, those who were really engaged and wanted more, continued with the items and exhibition design. There are 18 in total. What an incredibly engaging activity. They couldn't get enough and have gone on to do more exploration into that time in Aotearoa's history.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Set up to allow children to look at things from another persons point of view worked well. It allowed children to see things and think about how they would experience things in different ways.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? looking at the New Zealand history through a people lens. Who Am I, character cards meant that children thought about the people in history rather than solely on events that took place - with a feelings approach.
These kits are so motivating and well prepared for busy teachers needing opportunities to deliver learning in different ways. This was perfect for our multi level classroom. Incoorporating this and using School Journal resources for reading alongside this unit of learning was a huge success! These kits are so well put together and capture and hook children into the topic. they were engaged and motivated to learn about NZ history. Thanks so much
