How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? This kit made it easier to teach the history. Especially having the character cards of everyones story. It hasn't changed my perspective on teaching it as this is an important aspect of our curriculum and history. The kit was a great tool for this though.

“This was a great kit, it was difficult in the beginning to get into it as there were not many newspaper articles around the event. Students loved learning about the different perspectives. Instead of saying someone stole my lunch I used a piece of photocopying to teach perspective. This was beneficial otherwise it would have taken linger for them to understand.”

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? This was all new history for a lot of my students and such great learning. This has some great resources and was great for opening up conversations between peers. We need more of this!

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? For me the kit was about the importance of teaching New Zealand history, adding to it! In saying that a new perspective is always appreciated. It was very well done and a fantastic resource. Thank you.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? It was interesting for them to see how important it is to consider multiple perspectives and reasons. Things can affect you differently depending on the What, who and why of a situation. They had to take this all into consideration throughout the unit.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? I think it's so important to teach our students NZ History and give them that connection to their own country. It was important for them to be able to perceive more than one side to the story, and this kit was great for that!

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? The initial activity and the character cards were useful to prompt discussion.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? The activities helped the students to identify different perspectives - which fed nicely into social situations at school and taught them that 'knowledge' isn't a fixed thing.

“This was a great kit - the little hands-on prompts were useful for the class to visualise and prompt discussion. They loved the initial activity which helped them gain a deeper understanding of perspectives and how people have different 'truths'.”

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? It was very valuable for them to understand that there are many different perspectives to a story and this has made them think of how this relates to themselves and situations that they are in.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? They could easily see that there were many different sides to the story depending on when or where they were when it happened. The activity 'with the lunch being stolen' was a great activity to explore different perspectives on an event that occurred.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? I would definitely use this resource again and it actually expanded my own knowledge of NZ history. It had a number of different perspectives, which allowed for greater discussions.

So this kit gave a fresh perspective and focussed on a vitally important part of our history I have always overlooked. Also

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? It made the students realise how stories of the past are passed down through generations, and people see things from different perspectives can create a lot of interesting discussion!
