How did the context of farming allow your learners to explore and develop literacy? It gave children who have never been on a farm a visual experience of things that are on a farm. We used the farm bricks when learning about the names of things that are nouns on a farm.

“The children worked together to create the different parts that made up the farm. They were so excited! Some did find it tricky to put the bigger buildings and vehicles together, so the lego experts in the class helped them. Once it was all built...they have enjoyed interacting together to create their own farms.”

“The students were fascinated with the bricks. Some but not all had been collecting them or seen them before. They enjoyed working together as they assembled the farm. They rose to the challenge and demonstrated resilience. We used the kit for maths, literacy and social sciences. We explored albeit briefly farms and gardens. A fantastic resource that we will cherish for a long time. Thank you.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The Lego- hands on, busy work and it's always a favourite!

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The most lasting legacy is probably the Te Reo Maori word we learnt to go along with the activities. Also having the Lego to play with.

“Our children loved working through this kit. It covered a lot of great concepts and having the bricks along to support concepts was very good. Having the Te Reo Māori component was wonderful. The bonus of having the Lego to play with afterward is great too. Thanks for providing another great kit!”

“The Farm Bricks were the perfect introduction to our topic of farm. The students were engaged and excited. Building with the bricks is a great way for my year 0/1 class to practice their fine motor skills while also allowing the ability to interwork all the curriculum levels. We were able to build some of the packs together however due to their age and skills I took the rest of the boxes home to complete the build and did a big reveal the next day. We have finished this topic but the students can and do keep folding back to the bricks to continue exploring both farm as a topic and building on their own imaginative worlds. The game included was not yet used but I have popped it aside to introduce later in the year. Thank you so much for this engaging school kit! From A6 at Chapel Downs”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Desiging a tractor was a great way for the children to think about what jobs might need to be done on a farm and how the tractor would make the jobs easier. We had some very inventive ideas.
