“My class were extremely excited to have the kit on our classrooms as many of them did not have it a home. They loved working together to create the machines and playing with them on the play background. The te reo cards were good fun! Thank you so much for providing such an awesome resource to classrooms free of charge. It will continue to be used for years as it’s such a universal and versatile resource!”

“What a great resource for the class. We had a lego frenzie, where students would take turns opening each piece and then using the objects to then tell a story. It made the reluctant writers able to write and enjoy it.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them “It was fun imagining that we are farmers and choosing how to layout our farms” (Year 3 child ). I loved learning how to plant things from seeds and how we could use our land better to help our earth (Year 4 )

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I tried carrots out of the school garden - I thought you could only get carrots at the supermarket but they taste the same." "Milk comes from the supermarket but the farmer has to look after the cows and make sure they are healthy so we can have milk from them."

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Bricks were definitely a hit. The children followed the instructions for how to make the farm and then it evolved into more and more their own versions of farms.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? These children know about fresh food and where it comes from. They know what a farmer does and when they look out the window when driving the outskirts of Hamilton I know they will make the connections to the farmland they see.

“Thank you for providing another wonderfully thought-out and well-resourced School Kit for us. We (my class of 5yr olds) made a 'mystery' out of opening the plain cardboard box - making lots of predictions about what it could be and deciphering any words on the outside that we could read. We were excited to see other boxes inside the box. Once opened we followed the instructions to make the Countdown farm - there was enough for everyone to do 2 each. We linked the learning about the farm to another school kit I had done in the past about the little gardens and the vege patch match - tasting and eating different veges. We learnt about how farmers grow our food and look after the animals in NZ and we tasted lots of different fruits and vegetables that we can grow locally. We also used the farm kit to learn about vehicles on the farm and being in the Waikato children see a lot of the big tractors as they drive around but they were not sure about some of the other machines they notice. It was great to use the bingo game and it has multiple ways to play which made it easy to increase the difficulty once they had played a few times. We really enjoyed the Countdown Farm Bricks and all of the work that has gone into making the kit and are looking forward to many more exciting learning kits from School Kit. Thank you to all involved for a rich learning experience for us all.”
