How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? I didn't really change it at this stage of the year although did get the children thinking and reaffirming their own beliefs. I think at the start of the year it could be quite instrumental in helping set a great class culture and be thing to continue to
My Year 7/8 class enjoyed discussing many of the things that came up in this kit. It got them thinking about different perspectives and tied in nicely with our other inquiry of Giving this term. I would like to use this kit at the beginning of the year as well as I think it would complement the beginning of the year discussions and setting up the class that would would normally do. Thanks again School Kit

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The action plan made students feel more accountable for their actions and how they speak to one another.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students were more aware of how they spoke to one another realising comments that they had previously made were of a racist.
I loved this kit . Our class is yr 2-4 so most things were appropriate but some a little over the heads of the year 2's. It was a really thought provoking , some finding discrimination hard to understand but this kit helped . I think this kit would be rally useful for the beginning of the year.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Made students aware of changes that have happened in our society - could discuss with students the changes from my school days to now in how we relate to one another eg. In my schooling students had to opt in to have a 30 min Maori language lesson vs now
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? You could really see students begin to understand differences others faced each day and students felt comfortable enough to ask deeper questions to each other with out feeling they would offend the others, when they just wanted more of an understanding. W
A fantastic resource to use with my Yr 7 class. Very powerful to remind students that in many ways we are all the same, however in many ways we come from far different backgrounds and with many different experiences.

This was a great unit, given the recent occurences. It's a good way to make the class aware of our differences and our similarities.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The action plan was an engaging way to involve all students to achieve the outcomes of the kit. Because the activities were personalised, all students felt the learning was relevant to them.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The kit has helped my students become aware and inclusive of all identities that make up their world. My students have become more confident in their identities and open to discuss other viewpoints.
The content of the set was well planned. The students were challenged to explore their ideas on identity. The ";Whānau Interview', that collected information about where we live, and where we're from extended the classroom learning from the classroom and into the children’s’ lives. The topic would be good to extend across all learning areas. I am planning on using this again for my new year level next year. Thank you for providing an engaging unit for students to learn about racism.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We have started to learn more about each other and actually getting names right and knowing who people are. This kit worked in well with our term virtue of ";Taha Wairua, spiritual wellbeing"; and focusing on who we are individually and learning more abou
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? My kids respect each other more and they are kinder. This was evident in a small video I showed my class and we had a few new students start. One of the kids fell in the clip and two boys that were new laughed and made fun of them and the kids shut them d
My classroom is incredibly diverse. This kit really helped to unpack all of the differences in our classroom, our strengths and what we all bring to the table. It was good for the kids to do this on themselves and reflect but then to recognise it in our classroom. It made us a stronger team for it and there is this sense of belonging that is different to past years.
