What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Giving the children more ownership of their own class and what was important
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We have seen an increase in children giving each other compliments and encouraging each other.
We enjoyed using the kit- it highlight underling issues in the classroom that we hadn't realised were there. Activities were well planned and easy to use and adapt to our level.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We are more tolerant and more accepting.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students are definitely thinking more about the actions of a person as opposed to the actions of a group or nation. They are tolerant and kinder than I think they were at the beginning of the school year.
A FANTASTIC resource that had my students really questioning the stereotypes and assumptions we make. After the March 15 attack my class became very very close (we are a Christchurch school), but underlying mutterings about how 'Australians are bad people because the gunman was an Australian' needed to be addressed and this kit did exactly that! One persons actions should not taint a nation or a group of people. Was great to be present for those 'lightbulb moments' and the pictionary was very interesting! Thank you School Kit!

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? I will parts of this kit next year with my class at the beginning of the year. I wouldn't change anything.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? As I have a diverse group of children already who have had a lot of circle time, mindfulness and lots of discussion we haven't really changed alot. We have maybe learned to use kind words more often between ourfselves.
May children have thoroughly loved taking part in this kit. For me it showed that, although my class is a diverse group of children , they have non-judgemental views of the world which I did not expect. The initial activity with important people was interesting as one child had no real feelings for her brother and her parents are not her main 'safety blanket'. I would really recommend it to anyone.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We have been talking about the diffferences between teasing, mean moments, conflict, friendly banter and bullying and attempting to not be a bystander. We have done a lot of drama abound telling each other how it is for us.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The shared language has been used a lot and it is great to be all on the same page with that. Thanks for the resource School Kit.
I thought it was a fabulous unit. The thing I found the most challenging is that I teach in a very 'white' school so had to incorporate many stories via you tube, books, documentary's and journal stories to asssit the studentes in really understanding diversity.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It has made my students more aware of what comments they make when referring to people. Still lots of learning needed though.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It has made the students more aware - I feel there is more learning to do though
This Kit was outstanding and the students all enjoyed this. It was very confronting at times, but was great for making connections and conversations. I still think there is a bot of learning to do with this with the students I teach.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The action plan has become a basis for students' inquiry into our class topic next term.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? They have become more understanding and empathetic to each other. A lot have become much more open to making mistakes and who they are. They are more likely to confide in each other rather than store up their problems in their heads. They share their lear
This kit have been such a fun, relatable and accurate way of intertwining Literacy with Inquiry Studies. It related to a lot of the national issues that NZ faced this year. Students found it especially interesting and as a teacher, I got to learn new things about my students too.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It was interesting to know what minimal knowledge the learners had, some didn't even know their own parents names. We came up with challenges to learn more about our family and peers in a respectful manner.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The learners are taking the time to learn their peers names (and cultural names as some have preferred to be called by their 'English' name). We are all practicing to properly pronounce their names correctly.
As I work in an FLE I use this resource with two different groups. It was very interesting to see their views of others and themselves. This gave me an opportunity to learn more about my learners on a personal level, as some things that had risen couldn't have been discussed in a typical daily conversation. The activity that the kids were engaged with was placing the names of those closest to them on their target. Everyone had a different response and it bloomed some interesting conversations in our lesson.
