How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? provided guidelines of progression in terms of identifying a starting point and the different ways that self confidence could be managed and grow. The students loved the reflection journals.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Journal self reflection was perfect for the age of the students. Some of the boys didn't enjoy doing this though and weren't able to honest reflect or record their thoughts.
Ka rawe e. A beautifully created resource...nearly too beautiful to use :) I like that there are options for how to use the resource. We didn't put up the pockets for the students to access as we have limited wall space and displays start to become like wallpaper if kids are accessing them regularly.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? I think the most moving part of the kit were the letters from loved ones. Also talking through some resilience stratigies from the charging station cards have really helped some of the students who struggle to manage their emotions.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? The daily check in has been great to use at the start of the day. I have often used it to check in with the students who arent doing well. When I notice their counters in the red box I am able to check with them and give them some time out to reset.
This kit was such a lovely addition to our wellbeing focus for T3. The kids were really engaged and really got them thinking about their unique identity. The written letters were so powerful, it brought some of the students (and teachers) to tears just hearing how much they are loved.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? The booklet was amazing for getting the students thinking about how they see themselves, the video of the artist made me cry and there was silence as the kids watched it. This teamed with the parent letters, showed them how hard they are on themselves.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? We were held up with implementing the charging station due to lockdown but I semi discussed it with them online. We have used it since but my high anxiety students still struggle with ‘what’s the point?’ I continue to persevere…
I ran this alongside our sexuality education learning. It proved to work in with it perfectly as the students were able to look more closely at how they were feeling on a daily basis - deepening the brief coverage this vital part of adolescence was given within the sexuality programme. We were a little disrupted with Covid lockdowns arriving but did a traffic light check in each morning - even if it was a little tricky to take that to the next level 1-1. Suggestions were shared each day on how we could improve where our minds were at during the 4 weeks we were separated. This will continue to be part of our daily ‘routine’ going into Term 4 and hopefully as we move into next year also.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? Before embarking on this kit with the students - it seemed there was a sense of 'if I have a problem, it is someone else's job to fix it for me'. This kit has really helped to change that on it's head and help the children to see they can be in control.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Communication has improved hugely throughout the whole class. Students thoroughly enjoyed having a way of checking in with the Self Daily Check In, without necessarily having to have a conversation about it.
After taking over a class at the beginning of this term that was not only unkind to each other, but also to themselves on some levels this was a perfect kit to be able to start the process of change with. The lockdown in the middle put a bit of a hamper on the kit as due to school commitments it had only been introduced just before going into lockdown - but upon return it was used with gusto.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? The red sheets were effective in helping students seek help when they were in the red zone.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? The checking in process has been very useful to enable students to indicate where they are at at the beginning of the day.
This kit has been extremely effective in helping our tamariki understand how they are feeling and understand what they can do to help themselves as well as others. It has built resilience and equipped them with tools in their tool kit to solve problems and conflict. It has also been great in creating a safe classroom environment where we are aware of others feelings.

I found that the children loved looking inside the envelopes, and I had slipped in some positive quotes, from images online - they liked these. A very cool design (I borrowed this from a colleague, last year, as well) and durable (the mat!)

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? During our recent school camp I was able to observe students taking on the role of support and encouragement to other students. Shared language and understanding was evident. Students were able to verbally explain feelings and why they felt that way.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Students are confident they will be heard. I have become more aware of ensuring I make time to follow up on students. One student at camp old identify that body image issues effected her confidence. We had a brilliant talk about this. She did everything.
This has been a great follow up from our Pause Breath Smile program. The children are talking more about feelings and becoming aware of how they can be an encouragement to others. Thank you so much for this kit. It even was beneficial during our lock down.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? Creating a shared understanding and language has been invaluable. Naming emotions and learning that we each control our responses and attitude.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Due to Covid Lockdown and that the learners are low vision, we have not used this part as suggested. Instead, we talked about self confidence and the 4 parts. Next term I hope to link in the cards as part of strategies to move forward. The kit is one that
As a kaiako of blind and low vision learners, being able to celebrate each others uniqueness has been invaluable. The booklet was able to be worked on during Zooms and created a great deal of discussion and reflection. The language of 'checking your charge', 'boost, 'shrink' or ask for help will become part of our classroom vocabulary. The focus on what is in my control and what is out of my control related well with lockdown. Another fantastic kit!
