How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? I can touch base with kids who may not tell you directly that they aren't feeling great.
I think there are some fantastic ideas in this kit. I did have to adapt some of the lessons as I feel it was pitched a bit above Year 5/6. The kids enjoyed using the check in box.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? Students are feeling more confident sharing their feelings and talking to others.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Daily check ins were great to ensure children let the teacher know how they felt- in writing and then a chat.
Everyone was very excited and engaged with this kit. It was great to build students confidence and know how everyone felt each day and have a bit of a check in.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? They love the tokens and the check in wall - some students have continued with it into this term. They feel confident giving others a boost and saying when they are low and need help.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? From the red card notes, students got into the habit of posting messages to me in a post box about all sorts of things. Great way to let me know what they needed without the barrier of having to say the words aloud
The Dove Self Esteem School Kit really helped students to let others know how they were feeling. The letters from a caring adult were a huge hit. Some found it really difficult to identify specific examples of how they showed resilience or reflection, and it led us to looking really in-depth at how people show what kind of people they are. The charging station has carried on into this term as an independently managed task for about half the class. They are really proud when they can say how they've helped someone else.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? It has built on our school values.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Due to them "disappearing"we couldn't complete this part.
My class were very curious about the wall display. Unfortunately I broke my elbow at work and was off for a couple of weeks. The only thing my reliever did with them was send out the parent letters. The parents wrote such beautiful things about their children and there were only a few (mainly ESOL) students that didn't get a reply back. We did the portrait etc things when I was back. I found the tokens had 'disappeared"as our room shares a common area where I had the wall display. We have carried on the check-ins in a different way to accommodate this. Some parts of the kit was missing (blue tape) and parts of it was confusing so I hope I used it correctly. I wasn't able to attend the "live"events as it was either during the day or during staff meetings.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? Using the tokens, helped to get the kids to focus on how they were feeling and supported our Zones of Regulation work. Cards gave us lots of talking points as to additional strategies we would use when in the various zones.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? The tokens gave the kids an additional way to let me know about how they were feeling. They knew I would check in with them. Was a non threatening, non confrontational way of sharing how they were doing.
Fabulous kit which supported our overarching theme of Hauora for the term. Also tied in really nicely with our Life Education sessions which were based on Resilience. Gave the kids additional strategies to use when in the Yellow zone - which also complemented our work on Zones of Regulation and the use of calming tools.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? The recharge station and cards have helped my students navigate through their in self-regujation of emotions, feelings, thoughts and conflict
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Charging station and cards have provided such a powerful visual for my class with authentic scenarios that fit my kids.
The most powerful growth this kit bought to my class, was that of self-love and a new found sense of identity, belonging, and confidence. My students are seeing themselves as learners and valued members of our class.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? The charging station made students aware of ways students could help themselves (and others). The videos were thought provoking and a lot better than the kids hearing it from me rather than in the real life context.
How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Students felt more able to share with me when I shared my own experiences. Making the kit a whole class experience means that everyone is hearing the same message, and therefore hopefully sharing the same message.
This kit was more challenging than I realised it would be due to the personal nature of the topic. I saw it as a way to build empathy in students and also as a tool to help students realise that we are all beautiful (and that beauty doesn't have to be just what we see). One of the best elements of the kit for my class were the videos relating to thinking about how we see ourselves and how others see us. The forensic sketches created quite a bit of positive discussion. I think that if you do this kit you have to be prepared to dedicate consistent time to it in order to get the most out of it. This was a busy term for us and I don't think we got the most out of the kit just because of the time we weren't able to commit to it. I love the idea behind the kit and see myself using parts of it again and again.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Red letter journal has helped students to hone into their needs. It is really valuable to have a conversation with the students about what their needs are.
This Kit was exceptional. I thought I knew all my students really well, but this kit brought us closer. It gave the students the confidence to speak up about their feelings and situations. Having a visual reminder (Charging Station) to have a daily check-in with those students who needed to talk was great. Students felt loved and cared for when I addressed their issues/problems. Because it was confidential and one to one students felt comfortable talking more. The notes from home were great. I think looking at appearance pressures and media images is great to start doing at primary school.
