“This has been an awesome kit. Although the face to face Implementation of it has been interrupted due to the Lockdown, I have taken parts of the kit and been able to add them into the distance learning we have done. The ‘senario’ cards have been able to be used online and the students post their response to the senario of the day. A great kit to use online or face to face.”

“The kit looked very exciting and once I had read through it and started to get familiar with with it I realised it needed a substantial amount of time given to set it up so it could be given the emphasis it deserved. Setting it up on my wall though was a great starting point. Unfortunately Covid-19 happened but I believe that this will make it even more valuable when we return.”

“I did find it a little hard to use. The student book was good but using the cards in the pockets seemed a little over whelming for some children. They were not sure what some meant. Parents really liked the booklet and were supportive with their child to fill in some of the information.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? The kit helped my students to identify and acknowledge their behaviours. In discussions, students could hear how others managed challenges and this helped in building their own confidence.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Students were able to communicate when they needed support with a degree of privacy from their peers.

“The kit was a great resource for my year 7/8 class in term 1. We used the booklets as a prompt for some wonderful discussions about self-care and looking out for others in the lead up to the lockdown. I was impressed by the way that students were able to articulate their ideas using the language from the kit.”

“I started using the kit with our Year 5/6 students. I was tying it in with the Zones of Regulation programme that I am running at school. So I introduced the Zones programme and zones first before I started the kit. Students have been given their booklets and they completed the first four or so pages, with their whanau as well. I loved hearing the feedback and discussing the outcomes with the students and I'm looking forward to carrying on when we get back to school. (I've only given the kit a 3 star because we didn't get very far).”

“I just want to say what an awesome kit, it has so many meaningful resources. I sadly had just started this kit on the week before the lockdown started, but I can see how beneficial this kit will be when school returns with more full numbers at level 2 perhaps. I am very excited to reflect on covid and the lockdown alongside this resilience kit. It fits together so nicely. I am absolutely gutted I didn't start the kit earlier, the tamariki would of greatly benefitted from having tools about being more resilient and engaging with their own feelings and being aware of others in their feelings. Overall, I cannot wait to work with this kit when I return to the class and think it will be a great unit for the tamariki to work through after such a strange, long time at home without playing with friends or being at school like 'normal'.”
