How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? Students really found the circle of influence a very useful, visual tool. The booklets were great and the traffic light colours fit well with Zones of Regulation which several of our more challenging students are familiar with.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? I am lucky in that the majority of my students and I have a great relationship, and they will tell me what is on their minds, willingly (sometimes more than I need to know!) This kit has helped those few who were reluctant, be able to open those lines.

“My students enjoyed checking in and learning about resilience. We were, unfortunately, in the middle of a very disrupted term, however, it did add to the resilience learning of my students. This kit was easy to use, kept the students interested and was, yet again, a great learning experience from School Kit. We have been fostering a ";I can do it"; attitude, where making mistakes is not on okay, it is expected. Growing self-confidence in pre-teens is always a tricky deal, but thanks to School Kit we had extra tools to use!”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? We had great conversations starting. Like I said above we sadly didn’t get to finish the kit. I’ll definitely be using it again though!

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? The check in tokens have been an amazing tool! Students could say how they felt and what they needed without others seeing or even having to say a word.

“Even though we only got a few weeks into using the kit due to lockdowns the whole class really enjoyed it. It added beautifully to our morning circle time and gave those needing a bit of support get it without having to ask.”

“The students enjoyed it, however, some of the tasks felt like they weren't the best follow-up activity. The conversations that came from the learning were really insightful and challenged the ideas of my learners. The age felt like it didn't fit the students and maybe was for younger students. Building self-confidence was a hit as the students didn't know how to build confidence. They assumed you had it or you didn't.”

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? The journal was great and daily check in. It has inspired me to start a gratitude journal with the class next year and turn taking on daily reflections

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Students feel more open to communicate their thoughts, it also taught me to have greater empathy for our students.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? It's given some students the confidence to approach the teacher, or the teacher an awareness to approach the students, and engage in a conversation. It's helped bridge the gap between some students and their teacher.

“The students found it easy to understand, but there wasn't buy in from everyone. Some of the ones who needed it the most didn't get as involved with it as much as we were hoping they would. In saying that though, some got a lot out of it and were able to use the strategies and ideas to help them speak about things going on in their lives.”
