“I have absolutely loved using the Dove Self Confidence kit in my class this term and it linked perfectly with our school-wide 'Kindness' unit. The kit itself was thoughtfully crafted and we particularly enjoyed working through the self journals - as well as receiving letters from their special people. The charging station was used as a daily check-in for all students and it provided me with an opportunity to connect with those who placed their tokens in the orange where sometimes they may have flown under the radar. Those who placed their tokens in the red were able to have their issues addressed, either through conversation or by completing the help card, which made them feel heard. My students have thoroughly enjoyed this and we will continue using the daily check-in system for the remainder of the year. Another winner - thanks School Kit!”
“I really enjoyed using this kit, as did my class. The maintenance of the pockets on the wall wasn't my favourite part of the resource, but the fact that I needed to repair them is a good indication that the tamariki utilised the cards!”
“The students were very excited about the wall display that I put up when they were out of the room. They have interacted with it positively. The girls have been more sensible than the boys and it’s alerted me to a couple of students that were struggling but appearing on top of things.
I think for me it’s opened that door to have conversations with some of the students that I might not have had otherwise.
The students enjoyed the videos. Some of the parent letters have been very moving. I’m encouraging the students to put them in their time capsules.
I teach at a high school so it has been a bit challenging getting into a routine with the kids using the charging station.
Although I’m placing feedback I plan to keep on using the kit through next term too as I don’t think we have finished with it yet.

“This kit is has been very engaging for my year 7/8 class. The children are still working their way through the booklet and getting used to using the token system. It has helped us to recognise and attend to our emotions.”
“This was a really eye opening kit for both my students and myself. It was very interesting doing the circle of influence. I have a lot of children with trauma and the token have them a safe space to say how they were feeling. It also helped them to identify their emotions and we now have a whole recharge station with a number of different items they can use to recharge. I love the term recharge as opposed to calm down as it ensures there is no negative connotations or that it is a punishment. Relating it to recharging ourselves with food and sleep was a good starting point which led in nicely to emotions. Some parents now have these areas in their own homes as opposed to time out. It has started some really cool conversations and the same language is being used at school and home which is awesome!!! Even the ideas given parents are implementing as I find when children are heightened they do want to calm but need some help and guidance on how to do this. Some more visuals for these would be awesome as well.”
“My class loved this kit! It has become a regular part of our day - the charging station is used on a regular basis and students know that they have a quiet place to go whenever they need to. The self check tokens a re fabulous! We check in every day, at least twice and even started identifying trends and what we can do to alter these trends. I'm really looking forward to continue the use of this kit for the rest of the school year!”
