What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We linked this to our local curriculum and landmarks. Students have learnt about some of the history of our wider school area and made connections to landmarks.

How did the activity help students make connections between circuit theory and real-world applications? It has really opened their minds to how electricity flows and what it needs to do so. The students have asked so many questions about what they are learning and what that means for things in their own worlds. They have also gained a really great insight into batteries and how we must be careful with them and that they are not toys.
We used the kit with our Year 3 and 4 students and they loved it. Students have told us its the best thing they have done all year. The students were so excited when they made their first circuit and the light went. It is a fantastic kit and a highlight of the year.

How did the activity help students make connections between circuit theory and real-world applications? They compare their circuits with the circuits at home and schools through pictures.
It was a great resource to offer my students in-depth knowledge of electricity, circuits, current and safety measures. Thanks a lot , my students enjoyed it thoroughly, their eyes lit up whenever they saw their circuits working.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Students engaged in collaborative problem solving and reflection. It linked to technologies and science- understanding the different components and how/ why they work/ don't work. Also had strong literacy links as they used oral language and discussed and shared all their ideas.

How did the activity help students make connections between circuit theory and real-world applications? They could see how circuits and electricity works in theory and then make connections to real life/ the world around them. Resulting in extra research, student curiosity, and an exploration of potential careers and opportunities to do something similar later on in life.
The students were really excited to get stuck into the Power It Up Kit. They loved trying out the different pieces and seeing what they could make work. There were a few moments when things didn’t work straight away, which was a bit frustrating, but they didn’t give up. Instead, they kept trying different ideas and used trial and error until they figured it out.

The students loved using the power it up kits. We did the booklet and then the students were given the task to create their own circuit and make their cards light up. They loved the challenge. It was a great hands on Learning activity to do at the end of the year with plenty of Learning without them realising it.

The box was fully stocked with lots of goodies very appropriate to the age level of our students. There were ample resources, eg booklets, lights, copper, batteries, clips etc. The diagrams in the booklets were fun, however the sticky copper was very finiky and lots of kids had problems getting it right, but nothing they couldn't overcome.

Kids were really engaged. The videos were helpful to show specific skills for circuits. They enjoyed the challenge of the buzzer and being able to create their own series circuit.
