What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We will be using this in reading, writing prompts and maths. We will also be looking at it as we cover explorers in our New Zealand inquiry.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Having an open format and lots of scope for interpretation allowed cross-curricular links to be easily made. We took mostly a social studies/literacy/art focus, but I could see how useful it could be for many areas of the curriculum.

How did you find the open format of this kit? It was hard to grasp at first and required a lot of planning on my part to make it useful. The prompts and ideas were good, but I personally would prefer a few more specific lessons and objectives to follow.

“This kit had some good open ideas to develop in whichever way the teacher chose. Links to a variety of curriculum areas were easily made. Initially the openness of the kit was difficult as it required quite a bit of research and planning by the teacher in order to best fit the students and make the learning valuable. I also found some aspects difficult to use in a New Entrant classroom, but could see that they would be fine in an older class.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? I had anticipated basing the use of this on te ao maori and local puraakau, however given lockdown was unable to.

How did you find the open format of this kit? Great for me to direct the learning where my students prior knowledge is and for them to be able to relate to themselves. Though I'd prefer some more teacher instructional material in the kit to give me some guidance.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We used the cards to discuss a number of things and the kids were able to relate some of the things that happened in lockdown to the cards. They really enjoyed the would you rather - and we have continued with this theme
