How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? We were disappointed as they didn’t follow the teacher instructions (which were very long) and they didn’t produce the correct writing style

“These are comments made by the students - We learnt how to write a poem that uses sticky words - We were engaged during the activities and learnt how to look out for and learn new sticky words - We collaborated together as a class - We worked together as a team to solve a puzzle - We used some of our key competencies such as participating, relating to others, contributing and thinking - We showed curiosity about our partner school - We displayed creativity with our poem and our decorating of the postcard”

“We really enjoyed the different aspects of this school kit. The kids responded well to the colour poems - and it was great because regardless of a learner's writing level, they were able to experience success and share their ideas. The collaborative aspects really fit in well with our learning values as well. The story tin was awesome and sparked so much curiosity amongst the learners. They were keen to generate words. The focus on playing with words was awesome! For some of my learners this kit may have been better a little later in the year, but they all did well and experienced success as a result. The poster was a great way of exploring different aspects as well. My learners really loved it and were engaged to write - so would definitely do this or similar School Kits again!”

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The kids love the excitement of waiting for a package. It's great to be able to look up the school and find out some things about the area in NZ. Putting together the puzzle is a challenge but last year my class felt very proud when they completed it.

“A great kit. As a teacher I love the stationary. It is always VERY exciting when a school kit arrives. The students loved the contents of the tin and were very engaged in their learning. Such a great idea to connect with another school and I know my class are very eagerly awaiting the arrival of their buddy schools work :)”

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? My class loved finding out about the other class and school which connected in with our reading as well. We are yet to receive our poems but they are excited

“My class loved this box of goodness. They did find the introductory poetry about colours and wow ideas and words easier than the objects.”
