How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? It was great to receive the poems from our buddy school. They were obviously a rural school and us an urban one.
A great start to my writing programme for 2019. We really enjoyed learning about nouns, adjectives and verbs in an authentic context.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Yes they really liked opening the packet from another school. We found the school on google earth and saw some photos of their school which made the experience more meaningful.
The activities were well set out for teachers to follow. There were some good teaching ideas/skills and great to have the links to follow. I really like how GNZW is different from last year. Fantastic to have all the resources provided plus the perk of a few extra stationary bits.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The children are super excited and can't wait to get the other classes kits.
I found this kit very challenging for my age group - but they are 6 -8 year olds. However they loved doing it and will be super excited to see how kit that has just arrived!

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The children are always very excited by the prospect of real responses and sharing with other schools around New Zealand. I still think they are most excited about the Big Poster, more than the individual postcards. Hopefully the effort put in by the scho
I really like the idea of what was proposed this time round, though it seemed a little harder to hook the children into this one. Once they were they seemed to get real enjoyment out of it, but it required more persuasion than in previous years with the the Metaphor Work ( Of course I totally understand that a change-up was required) I think some really neat work has come through, though not to the level I was expecting.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? It created an authentic purpose for writing and also a deadline which encouraged students to commit to the task.
This kit helped me to step out of my comfort zone and not avoid poetry once again. The amount of support both from the teachers planning sheet but also the Fb group was amazing!! My students enjoyed it thoroughly and learnt so much about themselves as poets. The levels in my class has a huge range but all (with some added scaffolding) were able to produce a poem.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The students understand there is an audience and improves the overall result. Thank you for all the effort this entails for everyone involved.
Well organized. Interesting theme. Challenging and engaging for teachers and students alike. Pushed me as a teacher out of my comfort zone. Enjoyed by all.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? That we had a timeline and an audience... it's not just about us. Having an authentic audience/purpose for writing is essential and this is brilliant.
The tin was an absolute hit... talk about anticipation! (I did spin it out a little too). The best benefit for my kids has been the inspiration to LOVE words and language... our writing about a trip today was amazing with the inclusion of 'sticky words' and our conversations about similes and metaphors and synonyms. Just so much learning about language has gone on.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? It is absolutely what creates the value for the students. My students want it to reflect them and who they are, knowing its going to another class. I actually like having a due date - we work well to pressure! My students then wait anticipation for the pa
This is my third year completing this project and every year my class loves it. This year they loved exploring words, how they sounded and how they looked. They got especially excited at all the items in the tin and all the awesome stationery. In comparing to previous years I prefer the big poster to be more about the class, so we can learn more about the class we were receiving from. Thats my only constructive comment. All the rest we love!
