The intention is to expose my year threes to more problem solving and risk taking. It will also build their ability to think and share -commun

“My year 4/ 3 class thoroughly enjoyed taking part or though the majority of students who participated were year 4. It was better suited to their ability to persevere and work though the tasks. The range of tasks were well thought out too. And yes buzz planes are such a great activity. It was amazing to see how they worked on them until both the lights and the engine were working in unison. Cool.”

How has this kit influenced your confidence in STEM teaching and learning? Initially it was a little daunting as it can be hard to teach to someone else’s planning. The booklet was concise and well set-out, so after a little reading, the vision for learning was clear.

“What a great unit. The students worked through all the tasks. At the end we reflected on how much we had learnt and all the activities. They even wanted to make slides about their learning. Our talks went off track as to why countries grew and shrunk. Really interesting”

In what ways did the kit allow development of strategic thinking for your students? The variety of questions/problems, and the collaborative aspects to this kit... also found it was a good idea to give the children a little background knowledge prior to starting.

How has this kit influenced your confidence in STEM teaching and learning? Definitely enjoyable! I think one of the main things for me was knowing everything I needed was provided, I didn't have to race out at the last minute to buy resources to complete a task (which is what usually happens, or we improvise!)
