In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We made a graph to see which plants sprouted and when. Posters were made promoting healthy living.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Some students have gone on to planting at home. We are able to cross reference what has been done in the classroom. It has also added interest in our school AG day to plant a mystery seed and bring.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were very involved and had great discussion here and at home. Some even got their parents to start gardens and discussed what they were learning.

“Students loved it and waited for information with excitement. We got very involved and it went to the home as well as parents commented. I was a shame we had lockdown during some of the time. Thank you also for all the information given.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We planted up a garden and have extended the growing topic into this new term.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Was a great way to get children to taste/try new food.

“The kit was an exciting way to introduce our topic on healthy eating and growing things. The fruit/veg characters from the secret league provided lots of creative writing opportunities as well as some interesting work on heroes from the past. The overall look of the kit was attractive and age appropriate. There was a good range of content from pictures to seeds and even prizes.”

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? I extended the learning by linking gardens to our AG day which is coming up as well as using our talks about vegetables in our writing time with poems, descriptive writing and plays with the vegetables as characters. They loved it!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are going to encourage them to take photos or bring in their produce once it has matured (they will take their pot home soon). We will also be doing some cooking this term incorporating some of the veges they grew to encourage trying new things.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? For young students it was more about how plants grow and the benefits of growing fresh food ourselves. They knew quite a bit about what our bodies need - they just prefer to eat most things other than veges :)

“My junior students have really enjoyed the songs and planting the seeds (although it was a bit tricky for some). Completing the code breaker activities has been a challenge - was too hard to my youngest students although they have really enjoyed working with the older ones to figure out the sentences. Congratulations on a great resource!!”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are wanting to build some vege boxes at school so everything we have learnt will be very beneficial

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They wanted to try new veges because that’s what the motto was about trying new things !

“We absolutely loved our little garden kit ! The children were super engaged and loved filling out the application form . The badges were great and the children all felt very proud wearing them and being a part of the club . The kids were very excited getting send them code cracking emails . The videos on the website were great and fit in with what we wanted to learn about ! All of the elements of the kit were very well thought out !”

“Thank you for this awesome kit. Our children loved getting the badges and planting the seeds. They love to tell me what other plants they have bought from the supermarket as well. This kit fitted in well to our schools enviro program and country Life day activities. I also enjoyed seeing other displays that teachers had put up on Facebook. I love teaching with hands on activities because children are always engaged. We used the kit for about two weeks in class.”

“Great resource, kids loved it. Seemed a bit overwhelming to organise at first, but the kids were right into it! The code was great and my year 1-2 kids were really engaged. It was great to have it run in conjunction with the New World promotion - many kids were more interested in it because of that overlap. Great resource!”
