How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We tried to use this during our learning through play time and will continue this into term 4 as we have our own garden that we can plant up.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? To continue using the little garden pots as a part of korereo around eating healthy and growing our own food.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We had lots of korero about eating vegetables and how it is important to try food before we say we don't like something especially vegetables.
I loved the opportunity that this gave my students to have a go at growing their own kai and in turn respecting where their food comes from. Some of the background and leading in to the kit was harder with my young (year 1 and 2) class however once we got started with planting and seeing our seeds grown they really got in to it. I have kept some seeds aside and added more that we have gotten from family and whanau and will be planting some class plants to add to our school vege garden.
