In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Although this wasnt a focus of ours we had great discussions on the importance of eating vegetables and having a balanced diet.

“The Box was well set up and well explained. Students loved earning their badges through a range of activities. Was easy to implement into our class programmes. Students loved watching their plant grow and loved taking them home to share with their parents. Loved the extra resources liked the pair game but felt like more would have better catered to the whole class”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children know that food just doesn't come from the supermarket and that they can grow their own!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Perfect timing with our inquiry around Sustainability. The code cracking was great for this too and for literacy.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Planting the seedlings into the garden and then talking more about healthy eating when the vegetables are ready to consume.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Due to our focus on sustainability and planting and growing of plants - what plants need - our future focus when the plants are bearing food is the promotion of healthy eating and nutrition.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The code work linked in well to maths and literacy. Growing the plants had links to science.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children were very interested in growing the plants and we will do some more planting this term. I am also planning to use the vegetable code and vegetable game when appropriate in the classroom.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kit helped promote positive attitudes towards vegetables and towards trying new foods. However I don't know if it actually brought about any lasting change. Unfortunately our plants are not looking too healthy after the school holidays, so I'm not sur

“Planting and caring for the little gardens was the highlight of this kit. The secret club was a cool idea, however the code breaking activities were very time-consuming for my class - maybe better suited to Year 2-3 than Year 1. I liked having a kit that was more directed than the open-ended kits I've had before, although we didn't crack all the codes, most of the children had had enough after doing two. I found it hard to keep up with the dates that things were meant to be done by, this was a bit impractical for a busy classroom near the end of term. The message in the kit about the value of vegetables was great and we can keep referring back to this as we do more gardening in Term 4.”

“When i initially received it i thought it was going to be too much to incorporate into my already full Term 3 planning. So i left it. Over the holidays i was able to have a good look at it and it will the subject of a short Topic Study... Incorporating Science and Literacy. So, many thanks..we are so lucky to have received the Kit.. nga mihi.. Erana Gibson-Ruri....havent started yet so cannot complete yet.”
