In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used the Little garden league to write about, what living things need, etc.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Taking care of the environment, looking at different growth rates, the importance of the sun and water for living things and the Earth

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It exposed students to new vegetable and herb names. It seemed more focused on planting and the club rather than healthy eating.

“The children loved planting their own seeds and watching their own little plants grow. They also enjoyed wearing their badges and cracking the code each week. Unfortunately it was a lot to pack into the last 4 weeks of school, we did as much as we could in that time. I also didn't have an instruction sheet in my pack, but was lucky that my Team Leader also had a kit so I could look at hers. We planted the seeds in the first week to see them sprout, as some seeds took the full 4 weeks.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? There was Inquiry, science, maths, oral language, writing and reading! What more could you ask for

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? They took their new knowledge and excitement home and helped to create new learning at home also. Some children have gone.on to grow more at home. It also is leading us nicely into learning about the sun and space.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Yes some children didn't know where food came from and this really helped to build some knowledge for them.

“We absolutely loved it the children were engaged and excited about the whole process and there was a huge amount of learning going on and lots of measurements! The children's oral language improved and really I couldn't have been happier I want to do this every year!”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Lots of oral language and writing came out of trying different vegetables.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are continuing our unit on food groups and where food comes from. We are also learning about our body and what we need to be healthy.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Lots of discussion about different vegetables and lead into a unit on food, production and our body.

“My class and I have absolutely loved this kit! It was very easy to use and the resources to support the learning were great. I asked our local New World for the clipart which they provided - it would have been great to be provided with the characters' clipart, and to have all the images in one file.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have just planted a second round of seedlings thanks to the interest of our whanau and donation of their LG's - the children spent the first afternoon of term engaged in planting their new seedling. Looking forward to nuturing these in our school garde

The timing of the holidays wasn't ideal - our children took their seedlings home so tasting the grown plants as a class is going to be a little mor

“This was a fantastic school kit that was very engaging for the students from the get go. Great hands on activities and motivation for our Y2/3 class and great timing as we moved into spring. Loved the club aspect and the generous amount of resources provided both physically and online.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Life Cycle of plants. (science)

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? More around tasting eating veges so the health aspect is stronger.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Maybe more content around tasting new veges would’ve been good too as they couldn’t wait for the plants to grow :joy: Also the focus on healthy eating was not as clear to us as was the need to grow our own veges...

“We loved our LGL kit. The amount of build up was perfect for our yr2 class. The game was a particular highlight. The stickers/ characters persona, names of veges and the chart for growth was a good lead in to maths and literacy. Lots of the children were really excited to start a class garden and help protect and grow the veges.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Would like to do some cooking and sharing of different foods especially vegetables.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have always had a ";Healthy Circle";time when children have time to eat and had looked at the food pyramid for this work. It was great to have a variety of different seeds for vegetables that some children were not familiar with.
