How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Code cracking for reading. Reading a variety of texts. Environmental studies- planting the seeds and discussions what conditions seeds need to grow etc. Science- looking at variables for optimum plant growth. Heath and P.E- healthy eating.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Eating the vegetables we have planted and coming up with a variety of recipes to use what we have grown. Exploring how food is manufactured and where our food comes from and what changes we can make as consumers.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It made them more aware of different vegetables and about trying new things, however we haven't actually got to the point of eating any of the yet.
This was a really awesome kit and we had a lot of fun growing our seeds and becoming part of the Little Graden League club. Thanks so much for the opportunity. My class really enjoyed it!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Great maths opportunities with the time the seeds took to germinate, who's came up first, second etc. The children also took great delight in seeing how tall their seedlings grew and who's was taller than someone elses seedlings.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Looking forward to using the seedlings in the school vegetable gardens so that we can get to tasting the vegetables that they have grown and gaining the whole process of garden to table.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Unfortunately we were unable to delve enough into the nutrition side of our growing kits due to the 4 week time frame we had from Level 3 lockdown in Auckland. I sourced the recipe cards from a New World store and the children were very excited that they
A great kit to have in the class and for the children to see how plants can grow from tiny seeds. They especially enjoyed getting their application forms submitted so they could receive their own badge and become part of the club. The secret messages were solved with great gusto.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We used this to discuss healthy eating and the food pyramid which was quite timely as a few of our children had been discussing diets and becoming conscious about their own bodies - we were able to promote and reinforce healthy eating for their bodies and
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? There was a lot of discussion among the children about the vegetables and herbs they like eating - they really liked the names e.g. Carla Carrot.
The Little Garden Kit was very popular with all of our year 2 children and they were so enthusiastic about it that they were collecting the plants at home too. The codes were particularly popular and promoted a lot of discussion about the vegetables they liked.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We are developing an environmental area and gardening so the growing of plants is wonderful. Our paddock to plate unit. Measurement in maths for height of plants, ordinal numbers for germination/ graphs and statistics. We will write growing diaries and l
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We hope to further promote growing veges and preparing food grown at school to share. Connection with our wider community to help support this.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kit has arrived at the beginning of a 'paddock to plate' unit and also the Life Ed unit is about nutrition so together there are lots of input to support healthy eating.
The kit is enjoyable for the new entrant age group. The letterbox idea is a bit too advanced for them but the badges and being part of a group focus is excellent. The only negative was the timing so close to the holidays meant that caring for plants during this time was difficult(we didn't want them sent home and then try and get them back) so we have delayed starting some until we return.

What an awesome little kit. The children were so engaged and loved learning about the vegetables. It linked in with our theme of Jack and the Beanstalk. The kit was really suited to the level of children in my classroom. Some other kits have been too hard.
