“This was an amazing little kit, designed beautifully to enable cross-curricular learning in the classroom-and learning they also took home with them. The students were very engaged, right from the get go of 'pledging to the vege!"; They were inspired to try new vegetables and we asked parents to send in photo's of their child trying and 'reviewing' new vegetables, I was inundated with snapshots! The best 'melting moment' for me was when a nanny sent me an email and photo of her grandson, a well known gamer, when he went outside straight after school with his little brother. He proceeded to teach his little brother how to weed a garden. This has become a long term project for him, he has cleared a space in his Nans backyard and is growing a garden for them, gaming has taken second place! Woohoo for the win! Thanks team, it truly was a pleasure to be a part of this kit!”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The students loved cracking the codes which we did as our Writing for the day. Maths measurement, measuring growth. Taking photos. Science discussion of seedlings growing towards the light. Rotating the seedlings. Hardening them up outside to get them rea

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Many students have their own vegetable gardens at home. Students will take photos of their gardens and post them to the classroom to admire and encourage others to start their own gardens.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students learned the names of all the vegetables and carried this knowledge over to their family members during shopping at New World. We did not have tasting in class because of Covid.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The kits went home so they can continue responsibility at home. I made them a little diary to record their observations to keep them engaged. I'm sure they will give me a progress update when they come back to school. As I am the enviro teacher at school

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This was very easy to apply to cross-curricular learning. We made graphs of vegetables tried/liked for maths, for writing we wrote about our experiences (planting, vegetable tasting, secret league etc), we also created some visual art vegetables.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have recently transplanted our vegetable seedlings into bigger pots so they will continue to grow. They came in each morning excited to see which seeds had grown. They also loved transplanting their seeds into larger pots and continuing to watch them grow. What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Children are going to take their plants home and educate their parents on how to grow plants and hopefully encourage healthy eating at home.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have learnt where their fruit and vegetables come from (not just the supermarket!). They really enjoy watching the plants grow, and tasting new vegetables. Great to do this in a peer situation, lots of children tried food that they would normally say
