In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Measuring growth with non standard measurements. Increasing biodiversity in the playground. Health. Oral language, reading and writing.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? NNext year we will be furthering our understanding of how plants contribute to the biodiversity in our environment at school and locally in our area.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have not had any growth form our plants yet, but they have learnt to name many new vegetables. We receive fruit/vegies in school and they have made connections between what they are growing and what we have received.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Adding to our school garden.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Some of the children hadn't heard of some of the vegetables we were growing so that the discussions around these helped with awareness.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Maintaining and looking after plants and ways we can use them in different recipes.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? There were quite a few vegetables and herbs that the students had not heard about before and the students were very interested in learning about these and how we can use these in different meals.

Growing plants and looking at how plants grow is part of science. We wrote about our plants, what we did and what plants nee

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children were pretty on to it in distunguishing between fruits and vegetables. Many get fruit and cut up veges in their lunches, but the kit introduced to them to some new veges.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Little Garden gave the opportunity to explore nutrition, healthy eating, the natural world (plants) and conversations about cultural diversity.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The School Kit also provided an inquiry platform to explore our key competencies and school values: Thinking, participating and contributing, responsibility, tolerance and respect.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children made links from the seeds and plants to the vegetables they see and buy from the supermarket and eat at home. It opened a dialogue about the variety of foods the children are familiar with, and which food is considered healthy and nutritious.

“Our class of inquisitive learners were very excited to receive the Little Garder School Kit. We created a Little Garden learning area in our classroom and had fun setting up the clubhouse, decoding secret messages and caring for our plants. We watched the tiny seeds sprout and grow, and then took our seedlings home. Our learning conversations took many directions. We shared our learning with our families and friends and proudly wore our Little Garden badges. What a lovely initiative, thank you!”
