How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Science - living things. Learning about seeds and how plants grow, pollination and what is required to grow fruit/vegetables, what part of the plant creates fruit/vegetables. Used lots of measurement relating back to maths. Measuring soil, water, seedlin
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We continued to learn about plants and nature throughout the rest of the year as well as healthy eating.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children learned about different vegetables, where they come from etc. We have had a renewed focus on healthy eating at snack times and there are far more vegetables and fruit appearing in lunchboxes
We absolutely loved this kit in our classroom! The kids were super excited and there was amazing engagement throughout the whole kit. We did loads of learning around the life of plants and were able to tie in many different curriculum areas. The code breakers were a real hit!

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Didn't link so much with cross-curricular at the time due to the timing of the kit arriving and the topic at the time for us. But the opportunities are definitely there!
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Lots of kids took their plants home and continued to grow them and learn about how to look after plants.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This kit helped introduce new vegetables to some children, and discussions around why we need to eat vegetables.
This little garden kit was super easy to follow and use, and the kids loved it! They loved receiving their membership badges, and making their own plant. Especially when the soil expanded with the water!

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Counting, measurement - Maths. We could have done more writing about it.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I would have loved to actually eat and share the kai together, but as I said it all had to go home due to the time of year and to be honest once I got mine home they didn't last:(
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This didn't really happen, we talked about the vegetables but they ended up taking them home as it was the school hols and no one would be here to water them so the discussion got a bit lost once ththey took the plants home.
Great resource, some things were a little confusing as there was so much to look at online but no straight foforward plan to follow so I ended up doing things a bit backwards. The over all concept was amazing but after the initial hype it sort of dies off and you have to keep them motivated. Some other options for year 1s would be awesome as the crack the codes are a bit advanced for them. Also instructions for how to plant them etc wasn't anywhere that I could see. It may seem straight forward bbut I had never done these before so I did do the first few wrong and also didn't know there was somewhere to put stickers other than on the little pots. The kids told me later that there was a book to put them in. As a teacher I think its such a cool tool but we are so busy we don't have a lot of time to scroll through and decifer what can be used etc so easy is best.

I have given out the wee seedlings and the children are growing them in the class at the moment. We had some spare ones and we have put some in the dark and one has no water and the other one has been saturated with water. We have one that is being properly looked after using lots of sunshine, a bit of water and some children sit and talk to it in the morning! Their choice! We also have one each that we are caring for too.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? In term 2, we talked about life cycles withing bugs and animals, so being able to do the same thing with plants was right what they needed in term 3/4. With lockdown 2 happening in Auckland, it was quite hard to get the kids interested in their learning a
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? My class has taken their plants home now, and it is their responsibility to make sure that they grow. Some of them have started showing me pictures of vegetables. We have started talking about bees and how important they are to our ecosystem.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My class understood how plants grow and why. They have been really excited about seeing their vegetables grow. We have had many opportunities to discuss why certain types of food are healthier than others, and taught our buddy class why it is so important
My class and I really enjoyed using this kit. The resources were really well thought and engaging for the children. My kids got hooked when they had to send their application letter, and even wanted to send individual letters to their favourite as well as least favourite vegetables, telling them how they could be even better. However, working in a junior classroom, my students have struggled with the size of some of the resources (ex. the cards with the code on them; they kept on losing theirs so I didn't up printing bigger ones that they could keep at their tables. Similarly, the badges broke really easily, unfortunately. Regardless, my kids have really loved the Little Garden League kit.
